Coffee Time
by Kevin J. Lin
The Old Time Coffee factory has just finished designing two new coffee pots for production. You have been given the blue prints for final inspection. One thing you need to report is performance differences, so marketing can hype the larger and more expensive model.
Below are the blue prints. For simplicity sake, the white regions are the only parts which can hold coffee, the rest is solid silver. For your calculations you may assume the following: the walls of the urns and spigots have zero thickness. The spigots on each are of identical shape and volume. The two urns are circular conic sections. The grid units are one inch squares.
The question is, what percent more coffee will the larger coffee pot hold relative to the smaller?
