about    the    labyrinth

Kevin Lin here, creator of the Grey Labyrinth.

I've been interested in puzzles for as long as I can remember.  I received a Rubik's Cube when I was seven years old and quickly discovered that it had a trivial solution:  Snap out the edge pieces with a butter knife and then reassemble "solved."  Several years later I found a different solution that involved rotating the various faces around the central axis in a particular order.

The Grey Labyrinth originally began around 1995 as a periodic series of emailed puzzle challenges from myself to friends.  Once I learned some HTML, I created a web site to share these puzzles with others.  And so the Grey Labyrinth was born.

Over the next several years, I added over a hundred puzzles and started a discussion forum for regular visitors to discuss the puzzles and any other topics they were interested in.

Today, the Grey Labyrinth is almost entirely maintained and updated by volunteers and regulars of the site. I'd like to thank all of the individuals who've volunteered large amounts of their time to keep the site running, add new puzzles, make changes, etc:
