Yes - they showed up without problem earlier this morning. The txt is just a rename to circumvent the geocities no link policy.

It's either a link problem, or they have found out about this loophole.

You think you're wishing? Hell, I was about to print out http://www.glpics.com/taflinel/Buzz3.jpg and go crazy doggie.

I bet, with enough salt, even paper would taste good.

And DP. My Dad is fine and apparently had a stint? put in? Whatever a stint is, but he had angioplasty and it was a great success. He plans to pursue his diet more now and other arteries look fine the doc said..

I am very glad he has that attitude about trying to live longer rather than getting depressed and giving up. He has always struggled with his weight. He plans to spend a couple months at the Pritiken center (sp?) this fall and winter, a fat farm diet place where they whip you in shape and try to instill eating habits and all around life style for better health and fitness.

Thanks again, DP.

And thanks, Taf, for helping me with the pics until the other ones work.

Btw, Hy, that's popcorn on my left, the taller, newer patch. I would like to photo it in a week or so nand post them here so I can show how actually huge it is. It's the best crop of corn I've ever seen, and it's mine!

I use the water from the pond which need no PH adjustment, no temp adjustment and is loaded with microbes and nutrients - great stuff for plants.

Btw, the barrels are for thermal mass. They are waterfilled and kept sealed through out the season. Thhe need to be drained and put away though after the tomatoes are through, which will be mid Oct. They cannot be allowed to freeze. The force of the expanding ice will ruin the barrels.

Marvin, isn't it amazing that the woman Norma White, the whizz gardener that doesn't know what kind of plant she's growing!? She says it's some kind of watemelon.
It's not a watermelon (I recognize the foliage) but some kind of gourd or squash, which basically what a competition style pumpkin is, a giant gourd.

So she has some kind of giant squash plant there.

Popcorn huh? So I'd need salt and butter?

I've seen the smaller versions of those, but in a much smaller (and extremely less impressive) gardon. The only gardening I do is pumpkins. My mom likes to go nuts for Halloween. We'll have about fifty pumpkins out front, all lit up by xmas lights. We used to empty them of seeds before carving them, now we just leave the seeds in most of them (a few are used to make pumpkin seeds, and one is used to make dinner in) and throw them in the garden after the holiday. The next year, we're able to get quite a few pumpkins from the garden. If we took better care of it, we could probably get all of our pumpkins from there.

Now, Hy the sweet corn is ready right now! I am already sick of it (and it's delicious corn) because I'm just tired of all the tedious work here.

You have to be very careful when you stand the ear of corn on end and saw off the kernels with your very sharp knife. The ear can easily slip, it's kind of dangerous work and as your hands become fatiged, it's even more dangerous. I don't like gardening with any danger involved.

That's great, Hy! ~wishes he had grown a few pumpkins, also loves the seeds~

There's just something happy about a nice bright orange pumpkin!

Here's trick you can try sometime Hy. It works well and little kids love it.

Say you have a five year old nephew named Jason.
Go out into the pumpkin patch, taking care of course, to try to not damage the vines....take a ballpoint pen and gently scratch (use your best penmanship) his name on the still small and green pumpkin.

The name you've scarred in the pumpkin will callous, turning kind of a beigh color, and will continue to expand as the pumpkin grows. The pumpkin will literally have Jason's name on it at harvest time!

You should see the delight on a child's face when they discover a pumpkin in the patch with their name on it! They think it's magic or somekind of miracle!

Then pick the pumpkin up over your head and hurl it to the ground with all your might. you smash that pumpkin before his astonished and horrified eyes and say, "this is your head, Jason if you aren't a good little boy".

The child usually cries and cries.

But they'll get over it.

It may seem a bit harsh but it's good for them, trust me.

It's a tough world out there and the sooner the child learns this the better off they'll be.

[butting in just for the heck of it] The name writing thing works. Also, if you spell out your name with tape on an apple before it ripens, you end up with a green name on a red apple. [/bijfthoi]

Wow. What else can we do?

I know that watermellons will grow to the shape of a container if you put them in the container when they're budding (and watch them to make sure they don't fall out obviously. They now have square watermellons.

Nice looking little farm operation you've got there, Buzz! I'm jealous of all your space! I have a couple of small beds in my urban backyard. I'm growing tomatoes, several kinds of peppers, rhubarb, and rasberries. That's about all I have room for. I started a little window box herb garden but my roomy forgot to water it while I was out of town for the weekend and I don't know if it's going to recover.

But Captain Planet, the pumpkin "squash" sows many more for the upcoming season, and thwarts Jason's plans of devouring the pumpkin embryos, baked them for tv snackfood. But I appreciate the sentiment, sticking up for innocent asparagus and rutabagas.

EEEM, it isn't so great as it seems. because of all the water, we have a high vole population that attacks the garden. Vole = mouse-like creature, vegetarian eating machine with a pot belly. All I have right now is a bunch of raspberries back there. The yellows fizzled out (they're a sport of Heritage, a popular red variety), I think from a virus, and the blacks have been somewhat stunted too, but still have some fruit. Only the purples look really good.
Sounds like you have a few good crops, there. I assume the rhubarb has been established for some time. It sure takes up a lot of space for how useful it is. I guess the berries do too, but berries sure are fun to have in the backyard when they are in season. Grazing on berries makes one feel like a little kid again.

If you like broccoli, EEEM, I *highly recommend growing some. It's super easy, super healthy to eat, yields lots of food in a small amount of space. Plus you can freeze it without blanching, nothing could be easier to process.

Pick it fresh, (don't let it sit, it'll get skunky) dice it up, put into freezer baggies, splay it out in the freezer to freeze faster. You can then pack the bags more tightlytogether to save space if you want. It really is delicious homegrown and easy to cook. Just dump bag into pan.
and ck out all the buzz going on over the health benefits being discovered about broccoli.

Good luck with the garden! How about some pics? Felicitous

Here is the barge loaded with psuedo-fake-dam party material, ready to set sale, very heavy too.
Canoe is made of kevlar, can resist most police bullets.   This water is spring fed.  (kinda chilly cold)

This is not a hannaconda, or grass snake of any kind - just a canoe hood ornament from the local puppy mill.

Hanna likes to ride in the canoe. (being left stranded on that deserted island that one time really inspired her to get into the
canoe whenever asked)

"..leave the snapper be, that's for extro's award winning chili (his "secret" ingredient).  Leave the turtle alone and get back in the grass barge"..
..Pseudo-fake beaver dam, ahead...

"We're at the dam, how about getting out of the dam boat?"

"Is this where we unload the grass, boss?"
