THE RULES - Paraphrased and abridged from DP's

1. Have fun, and by all means, backstab and lie all you want should the situation merit it, but don't be a jerk. Please don't disrupt other people's enjoyment of the game by deliberately lurking. Post! Vote! FOS! IGMEOY! Be merry!

2. Outside of this thread, don't talk about this game with other players in the game unless you're specifically told in your role PM that you have nighttime communication with those specific players. Even then, nighttime communication is only permitted during the periods of the game designated as night (hence the name).

3. During the game's nights, there will be deadlines for choices. SEND IN YOUR NIGHT CHOICES (IF YOUR ROLE HAS ANY) BEFORE THESE DEADLINES. Please, please do that. If not, a random choice will be made for the first night, and no choice for subsequent nights. Also, a little kitten somewhere will cry.

4. Characters die in these kinds of games. It happens. If it happens to you, you're allowed one "Bah! Go town/scum/whatever" post if you want, but you're not allowed to post any more information pertinent to the game. Just sit back and watch.

5. Lynching will be carried out once a regular majority is reached - and cannot be undone by unvoting. If we impose a day deadline, lynching will require at least half of the regular majority. In case of a tie, first come first served. In the endgame (six players or less) only lynches with a regular majority will occur. I DARE you to find a way to rewrite this rule in an amusing way.

6. This is the way you vote: Vote: Player Name. See how it's in bold? Do that. This is the way you unvote: Unvote (Optional Player Name). Again, bold. And unvote before you cast a second vote. Otherwise you shall surely usher in a new age of chaos, and a plague of locusts shall descend upon the land.

7. If you make an error in a post, do NOT edit or delete the post. That's just about the quickest way we can think of to get lynched. Just post again. Also, please don't use spoiler tags in this game.

8. It is risky to lynch someone based on the formatting of their role name. We can't guarantee all roles are phrased and/or capitalized the way the Brothers Chaps or the Homestar Wiki phrase and/or capitalize them.

9. We're the mods. That means we're the final authorities on this game. You want our awesome powers of authority, you make up your own game. Seriously, though, in the unlikely event that a mod decision does trouble you, please don't use the game thread to discuss it. Take advantage of the board's PM system or e-mail us.

Four night choices not in at deadline; they get RANDOM.ORG'D! this time only. Expect Day to break in less than 12 hours (hopefully).

The sun rises on Free Country, USA, and a quick headcount reveals that Lauritz Melchior is missing. A quick check of his usual hangouts (his locker, his grill, etc.) turns up nothing, and the search soon becomes one for signs of foul play.

After a long search, the gang finally stumbles upon a suspicious pile of pink and yellow stuff. Closer examination reveals it to be The Cheat fur and... eraser rubbings?

Lauritz Melchior (The Cheat, Town, Tracker) has been erased. Each night, he could follow a player of his choice and would learn what visits that player made (if any).

Disturbed, the town wanders out to the field to sort out what to do next. They immediately notice two things...

First, there's a rope dangling overhead, suitable for lynching. They briefly wonder what it's hanging FROM, but decide not to think about it.

Second, a green and white striped piece of printer paper is lying on the grass. It reads:

So someone pro-town can use the printer to search for roles/rolenames but might have troubles with results. The cheat was a Town Tracker and was rubbed out (no pun intended). Interesting but not exactly illuminating.

Also, if you werte confused about the printer, it is this

d8P's thesis is that someone's role is to ask somethign about the game or about a role, and then the answer is posted publically at the start of the day. Perhaps the person just allowed to ask "Is X character in the game". This would be particularly useful in a game based on H*R since there are so many viable characters to be role-claims.

I'm not gonna call him out on his role, whatever it is. But I thought I'd bring it to everyone's attention. If you think I've made him a high-profile target for the mafia I say use your head. There are more than one mafia out there and one of them was bound to notice. Plus, he could have an evil power, we don't know.

Yes, I will need to be replaced. It's not that I don't like the role I've been given...I don't, but that's not the reason I'd like to be replaced . I'll be in Scotland, at a bed and breakfast, and I won't be bringing a computer with me -- even if I do have internet access, I don't expect to have much time for such things. You'd all be better served if someone else took over my role.
