THE RULES
• Do not quote from your role message in the public forum, but you may in the restricted access discussion forums if you like.
• Do not edit any posts!
• All discussion of the game must be in this forum, the designated restricted access discussion forums, or PMs to a moderator. Nothing outside of those.
• Votes must be in bold, and have the form Vote: Zag. Adding that you are unvoting (and from whom) is a convenience to the moderators but is not required.
• Roles will be assigned randomly.
• There are no Jester roles in this game, but alternate win conditions may exist for certain roles.
• Don't be more of a jerk than absolutely necessary.
• Don't take anything personally (outside the game that is). If someone is being a jerk inside the game, it might be part of their role.
• Posting at night in the public thread is not allowed.
• Night will have a hard deadline of 72 hours from the time night is announced. Night may be shortened if all nighttime activities are completed prior to that time. Saturday and Sunday combined will be considered 24 hours for the purposes of the deadline.
• Daytime will not commence (even at the end of the 72 hour period) until a morning post is made by a moderator.
• Daytime deadlines may be announced by a moderator to get action going. These will be extended if action increases.
• If a "hard deadline" is announced then it will not be extended.
• Day will end when a moderator makes an official announcement that the day is over. Discussion may continue after the majority is reached but before the end of day is announced, but any votes or unvotes made after the majority is reached will be ignored.
• If day ends due to a deadline, it will not actually end until the announcement has been made. Feel free to continue discussing and voting until that time.
• At a deadline, whoever has the most votes will be lynched. If two tie, then whoever has had that number for longer will be lynched. However, it requires a minimum of 2 votes to lynch someone; if no one has more than one vote at the deadline, the result will be "No Lynch."
• "No Lynch" is a valid vote. If that reaches a majority (or wins a tie-breaker as above) then there will be no lynch. Note that this is different from simply not voting, it must be an active vote.

This game is not set in the world we know. The world’s seasons are not in a regular annual fashion as we expect, but follow different rules. In a land where summer can last for decades and winter for a lifetime, it has been summer for almost 10 years now. Winter is coming…
To the north of the seven kingdoms lies the Wall, defended by the Night’s Watch. This marvel is a 700 foot high wall made of blocks of ice mined from the farthest reaches of the north, stretching the breadth of the continent, and was created to protect the land from “the Others”. To the east of the seven kingdoms lie the summer lands; arid regions and deserts that will not feel the harsh winter that is approaching.
At the forefront of the story are the Starks, the Wardens of the North. Their castle, Winterfell, is the closest castle to the Wall. Eddard Stark and his wife Catelyn have 5 children: Robb, Sansa, Bran, Arya, and Rickon. Another bastard-born son of Eddard Stark, Jon Snow, has no claim to his father’s lands, title, or even name; so decides to become a member of the Night’s Watch.
The game setting is King’s Landing, to the south of the seven kingdoms, and the time frame is shortly after the arrival of Lord Eddard Stark as the new Hand of the King. As such, those of the Night’s Watch (to include Jon Snow) will not be appearing in this game, nor will those in the summer lands. King Robert was just brought back from a boar hunt with a grievous wound, and his health is in question.
Game will begin at Night 0. Those with the ability to communicate at night may do so, but no other night actions will be allowed. Since confirmations are already done, game begins immediately.

Mod note: Zag's name was originally overlooked on the player list. This was a simple copy/paste error, not intentional in the slightest.

Vote: Fritzler just because I like typing his name

Stepping out into the morning light, Durryn notices how the sunlight strikes the face of the old Wierwood in the courtyard. A sudden chill runs up his back as he realizes his name is at the top of the Chapter.

The sound of wood on steel makes its way to his ears and a small smile parts his lips.

Enough preamble, let's kick this off!

Morning has dawned, but the night was not without event. During the night the King, Robert I Baratheon, perished from the wound he received while boar hunting. Several people wonder if foul play was involved. Robert’s eldest son, Joffrey I Baratheon, claims the throne and will be coronated shortly should he be able to hold it. Queen Cersei will serve as Regent until such time as Joffrey comes of age. Some are interested in justice, some in furthering their own goals, and some are simply interested in maintaining a low profile and keeping their heads.

Day 1 begins, with 21 alive it will take 11 to lynch.

This should be.. fun.

Durryn: Why are you posting a narrative with your first post?

I am in protest of RVS rabble rabble, just pretend that I am voting X for arbitrary reason Y and lets not debate gametheory.

This question is not very powerful at all. In fact most serious mafia players would call it useless. Regardless, I ask:

How would you rate yourself as a scum-player? (as in, when you get a mafia role PM how well do you play?)

I vote Durryn, because his name is at the beginning of the chapter and therefore bad things must happen to him. hehehehe. I do enjoy the flavor of narrative though. Maybe I should keep him around. I am trying to think in the books of anyone who worshiped the old gods that I wold find scummy. Hmmm...

LOL! You DO have a talent!

I'm finding that I dislike the usual beginning game more and more, and your nutty questions certainly give it a different spin. Please, though, let's keep the animus to a minimum. I know that in my game, it sort of spun out of control and created a lot of bad feeling. I'm not exactly sure why, and I know that wasn't your intention, but I'm asking you, please, to watch what you say. I'm not saying that what happened was your fault, but you were definitely the catalyst, or maybe the lightning rod. So please be cautious about what you say and also be thick-skinned if others respond to your question negatively. (However, I don't see it as controversial as your other questions.)

Anyway, I'm willing to answer. Until last game, I would have said that I'm terrible as a townie, but pretty good as scum. However, I picked out the last two scum in that one, confidently and correctly, and made only one other accusation all game (which I retracted in time). I'm hoping it's the start of a trend. So my answer is that I rate myself about an 8/10 as a scum and a very recent rise to 7/10 as a townie.

It's not fair for you to ask this question without answering it yourself, so please do. Meanwhile, I have drawn some mild conclusion just from you asking, which I will withhold for a while (because I'm not that confident of it, and because I don't want to skew the other responses).

Checking my incomplete record, I lose as scum way more often than I win. There has been one game where I almost single-handedly won it for my team, all the other wins (and that's only like 3-4) were because my buddies played well. In short, I suck as scum.

Since so many people express displeasure at RVS, I'll roll us on out of here. vote Durryn

I'm not sure how I missed Durryn's little story, before. I must have been distracted, somehow.

I can't decide if the post is scummy or not. Obviously, he's trying to tie himself to Eddard and Wierwood, which would make him town. It's such a blunderingly obvious ploy that I almost think a scum wouldn't do it. Of course, I also think a townie wouldn't do it, either, for much the same reason.

Finally, I wanted to say that there is a Wierwood in King's Landing, though it isn't much used. It becomes somewhat important in the third book, which I am just finishing.

I'm just going to sit and wonder why Deception is expecting a response to a question without answering it himself for our benefit.

As for me. I think one theme game I selected a role that someone else has and convinced them that the mod must have made an error, then proceeded to make the mod second guess himself and then I think I died and then I think I won. (Lord of the Rings Mafia). That was pretty epic.

On the other hand, sometimes I get a mafia role and then disappear for 5-7 years.

Can't remember much more.

I don't like to answer my own questions until someone requests it generally.

I think I'm pretty good as scum, but I have limited experience (I haven't won as scum, but my 0-2 record doesn't speak to the content of the games; which, weren't amazing, but not completely awful). This is to say, that I theoretically think that I'd be good as scum despite having a small and unimpressive sample size.

Can someone explain how there may be any issue with the Durryn Story?
