Witching Hour Mafia (DAY 6: GAME OVER!)

The year 1676 and the Great Hunt is at its top. In an English village, aptly named Salem, weird things happen. Dead animal carcasses turn up without explanation. And on a cold morning in September, the inn keeper even finds a human corpse in front of his establishment.

That very same morning a stranger arrived in the village. "I know what's happening here," the man said to the mayor. "It's witches. I've seen it happen in other towns."

"Tell me, what have you seen?"

The stranger shoots him a serious look. "Things, even more gruesome than you could imagine. Quick, organize a witch trail while you still can."

And so the town decide on mob justice to rid themselves of the evil witches among them. Villages really aren't a good place to be. First phoenixes and dragons, now this...

THE RULES
[00] Newbies should try to make themselves familiar with the basic rules of mafia as described in the FAQ and theory sections on http://www.mafiascum.net (Reading some of my older games wouldn't hurt either)
[01] Have fun and don't be a jerk. Please have consideration for the other players and the mod, and actually PLAY the game by posting and voting. If you cannot post for some reason, please contact the mod.
[02] No communication outside the thread unless your role allows you to do so and then only in the game's nights.
[03] Get your choices in before the deadlines. If you don't, a random choice will be made for the first night, and no choice for subsequent nights.
[04] No quoting role PMs or night messages. If you have a death wish, request replacement. Telling others your "name" and that you're a villager is not considered quoting. When in doubt ask the mod.
[05] If you're dead YOU'RE DEAD. No more posting relevant information after that. One bah post is allowed.
[06] Lynching will be carried out once a regular majority is reached - and cannot be undone by unvoting. If I impose a day deadline, lynching will require at least half of the regular majority. In case of a tie, first come first served. In the endgame (six players or less) only lynches with a regular majority will occur.
[07] Only votes in BOLD will be counted. Unvotes aren't mandatory, but much appreciated.
[08] Only votes one players with correctly spelled names (or abbreviations, see player list) will count.
[09] Do NOT edit or delete your posts! If you made a coding error, just post again.
[10] Do NOT post in invisible text.
[11] You are not allowed to quote or paraphrase your winning condition, unless you want to risk a modslaying.
[12] The mod is always right. Accept the decisions, and if you want to discuss them, take it to email, or do so after the game has finished.

They head over to TCM's house where they find his mangled body lying in bed, a knife with intricate engravings portruding from the covers. The cup of herbal tea on his bed stand has turned cold...

When I set up my first post, I previewed it to make sure I was doing it right. It showed a result of 10. Then I hit submit reply and it showed a result of 10. "That's odd, " I thought. Especially since hagfy got the same result. So I hit post again and set it up, previewed it and got a result of 12. "Well, that's good, " I thought. However, my earlier preview was the same result as my submitted reply so I wanted to check that too. So I hit submit and the result was not 12, but might have been 10. Don't recall. I deleted it though as it really didn't need to be there, and no one else had posted yet.

Bah! Oh well. I was a late addition anyway, with a Vanilla townie role. Now I'll have more time for the other games.

Anyway, I remember this one game I played in real life. I was the cop, and I found out later that the first person I investigated was the doctor. There were only a few people, and it seemed like no matter who I investigated, I just couldn't find the mafia. They got picked off one by one, until there were only four of us left. I claimed cop, and pointed to the one girl left (the doctor) and told everyone she was innocent, and that everyone else I'd investigated was dead. All true. So we lynch one of the other guys -- no luck, he's a townie. I figure it must be the other guy so I investigate him -- the mod shakes her head no, he's innocent. We wake up and the doctor accuses the guy, telling me she'd protected me last night and no one died, so she believed I was innocent. Then I told her I'd investigated the guy, and he was innocent, too. We were all innocent. And we had yet to lynch a mafia. By that time the mod was about to burst, she was trying so hard not to laugh -- she was the mafia, and the entire game had been a prank.

Now that I've used my powers of vanilla boredom on you, I shall FOS: Everyone still alive and vanish into the night, leaving only my smile.
