Welcome to Galactic War Mafia... PART 1
Story
The explorer ship Cloudrunner was travelling through the depths of space when an asteroid struck its primary thruster, leaving the ship to drift aimlessly throughout space, destined to be either sucked into a black hole, struck by a comet, burned up during entry of a random planet's atmosphere, or whatever else the universe had in its path.
The situation is that of utmost dispair. The only chance the crew has of survival is to take an escape pod that can fit 3-4 people. That's just about how many people there are in one faction of the ship. There are 5 factions (teams):
Red
Blue
Green
Yellow
Grey
But there's just one problem... no one can remember who's on what faction. No one, that is, except Team Grey. Team Grey, which consists of the ship's captain himself, are ahead of the game and have already decided that they are going to be the ones who escape. They begin using chemicals from the tainted thruster fuel and filter it into each one of the crewmembers' quarters, giving the crewmembers amnesia. The other crewmembers realize that they are being drugged and decide that they need to find Team Grey and get rid of them before settling the dispute over the escape pod.
Game Setup
The game setup is the following:
-Team Grey (mafia): 4 evil members, including "captain", who is like the godfather in mafia.
-Crew: 12 good members, divided amongst 4 other factions that are all unknown to each other.
-Doctors: 2 crew members who are unknown to each other - Each night they can choose to protect someone who is targetted by the mafia. Doctors cannot protect themselves.
-Cops: 2 crew members who are unknown to each other - Each night they can choose to investigate someone and see if that person is "evil" or "not evil".
Gameplay
There are two alternating scenes in this game. The game will begin in NIGHT. (I know this does not exist in space, but is a name for the period when the crew goes to sleep) During the nights, only the people with active night roles will have to send me choices (the mafia, doctors, cops). The other regular crewmembers just sit tight until the "day" comes, hoping they weren't killed. DAY follows the NIGHT, and during the DAY the entire crew will discuss and debate who they believe the scum is. If you think someone is scum, you vote for that person. You vote for someone using the bold tags. For example:

EveryDAY, I will set a number required to execute someone. In this game, people will be executed by being thrown into the airlock and ejected into space. You can vote for a no-kill if you want. The person who reaches this required number will be executed. A deadline will be imposed everyDAY. If the required number is not reached, the person with the most votes greater than 25% of the total number of votes casted will be executed. For example:

Courk has 2 votes

The Cheshire Man has 2 votes
There are 4 people who have not voted.

12 votes have been cast in total, so 25% of 12 is 3. Since no one has more than 3 votes, no one will be executed. However, if Will had 4 votes, he would've been executed. If two people have the same number of votes for execution, the person who had that number of votes the longest will be executed. After the deadline is reached and there is an execution or a no-execution, the game will continue on into NIGHT again.
Rules
1. No talking during the NIGHT unless you are on Team Grey, and that is only with EACH OTHER.
2. No talking about this game anywhere outside this thread unless your role requires it.
3. All votes must be in bold. If your vote is not in bold, it won't be counted.
4. When the required number for execution has been reached, talking must stop.
5. If you are killed/executed/removed from the game, YOU ARE DEAD. YOU CANNOT SAY ANYTHING RELEVANT TO THIS GAME THEREAFTER.
6. Never quote any of my private messages.
7. NEVER EDIT/DELETE YOUR POSTS IN A MAFIA GAME. That is considered cheating and YOU WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE GAME.
8. If you are going to be absent for a period of time, please inform me and I will make arrangements. If you need to be replaced, I will find a replacement for you.
9. My ruling is always final. If you find a mistake, I encourage you to inform me.
10. Please actively participate in this game. If you are not participating, I will send you a warning. If inactivity persists, I will replace you without your consent.
11. If you have any questions, by all means ask me by PM. Please do not hesitate.

The DAY opens up with Mgm missing. When we go to his quarters, we find him strangled to death in his bed.
Investigator Mgm, member of Team Red has been killed by Team Grey.
It is now DAY 1. There are 15 alive, 8 required for execution.
The deadline for DAY 1 is set to next Tuesday, January 25th 2005 @ 6:59PM GMT (11:59PM EST)

Not a great start, but IMO the town is still in a strong position here.
The mod might not like me for saying this, but I have a feeling that the game is imbalanced in favour of the town. We still have a cop, and 2 docs, and a tonne of townies 
So let's kick scummy but and get off this doomed ship!

Assuming the cops are sane and the docs are competent... Although, I wouldn't be surprised if Part 1 of the game was designed to be in favor of the town - to make sure that there's a good chance of seeing Part 2...

Im new to this games.
i am in the thinking of two things,
The thing up to the top says that we realised we were being drugged so that must mean some people other than mafia know theire teams, but i am thinking that you do cos you seemed annoyed cos he died, and the thing said that guy who dies was on team red so he must have known what his team was cos it said he was on team red...
or

You said that was why he was killed,
it could very easy for you saying that "some mafia member" you mean you'reself or one of your "team mates" . how else would you know the reason he was killed? |

1. In that case it's not a random vote.
2. The third vote thing is commonly known, so IMO the thoery becomes corrupted.
3. Just to explain, my 'usual' random vote technique is to vote for the 7th person on the list. I don't always use this technique, but if you look at other games in which I've randomly voted, you'll find some to verify that method.

It's very suspicious, claiming he's new to it, if he isn't. But I see no reason to rush the lynch before he speaks again, and it would be nice if we could gather a bit more chat/info on day 1, so for now at least, I'll FOS: Rubberduck
But, unless startling new evidence arises, you can expect that to change into a vote within a day or two.
