Remember: you can win a Darwin Award without killing yourself- you only are required to remove yourself from the genepool.
Too bad he probably already reproduced. |

From the Look Inside! at Amazon.com
"To win, nominees must significantly improve the gene pool by eliminating themselves from the human race in an astonishingly stupid way. All races, cultures, and socioeconomic groups are eligible to compete. Contenders are evaluated using the following five criteria:
The candidate must remove himself from the gene pool.
The potential winner must... render himself deceased, or at least incapable of reproducing. If someone does manage to survive an incredibly stupid feat, then his genes de facto must have something to offer in the way of luck, agility, or stamina... If he no longer has the physical wherewithal to breed with a mate on a deserted island, then he is eligible for a Darwin...
The candidate must exhibit an astounding misapplication of judgement...
The candidate must be the cause of his own demise...
The candidate must be capable of sound judgement...
The event must be verified..."
So, apparently it doesn't matter if he had children, but his genes might be disqualified because he survived it, even though all you need to do is be rendered incapable of reproducing... |

From another report of the same incident ...
| Quote: |
"It was rather disconcerting when the rubbish bin started humming furiously," Lynne Bryant, manager of the cafeteria at Mackay Airport (search), told the Australian Associated Press.
...
After about 45 minutes, the suspect device was identified as a common sex toy.
...
Mackay, a popular tourist destination, is about 500 miles north of Brisbane along Australia's northeast coast. |
So it's not uncommon for people to bring vibrating sex toys when visting Macking. |

HIV Virus battles Cancer
I find it amazing that such a deadly virus can be manipulated to fight another equally deadly disease. Kinda poetic justice, ya know? _________________ Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like? |

"While watching Siegfried and Roy, he had a sudden realization that what was wrong with the world was linked to the illusionists' treatment, dominance and unhealthy intimacy he saw them having with their animals," Roitman wrote.
Ford told Roitman that he thought the entertainers' contact with their animals was sexual and related to the development of viruses such as AIDS.
"He felt they threatened (the) world, and he began to figure out how he could stop them," |

I find it a little uncanny that each earthquake happened just a few days after religious holidays, Christmas and Easter.
Would anyone agree? |

Well, I thought it a bit odd that they happened so close to the Winter Solstice and the Vernal Equinox. I thought it might have had something to do with the tilt of the Earth's axis.
But then I remembered that there's been countless devastating earthquakes throughout history on pretty much randomly scattered dates, and also that if you shuffle a deck of cards enough times, eventually you'll get two aces on top of the deck.
But I still think it has something to do with the tilt of the Earth's axis. _________________ Hard work may pay off in the long run, but laziness pays off right now. |

I don't see how the fact that Legion was there and that nobody has heard from him recently, makes it poor taste.
Many real Sumatrans have actually died. |

| I agree with Jack... I've been keeping Legion in my prayers, but I don't think it's out of line to mention a news story that *might* negatively affect one of our members, or even one that definitely affects our members. We're all worried but ignoring the news isn't going to change anything. |

It wasn't a joke. Legion took offence at Samadhi's reference to some Indonesians as monkeys and savages. He is half Indonesian. Anyway, one of the reasons he took offence was that he felt that when we refer ro people as being of a lower order it makes it easier to care less when the are ill-treated or die. So to now make a comment that Legion, who is well over week overdue and has not contacted his work colleagues who at times fear the worst, is if not poor taste, then bad timing. It gives the impression that you really do not care much for his life especially as you make the monkey refernce again. He took all that stuff quite personally.
Anyway, we still hold out hope, but are starting to entertain doubts, you will understand if no one here has much humour about the subject. |

You're thinking of IS's statements about some Indonesians as monkeys and savages. I was actually talking about the monkeys of Sumatra.
It's not my fault you have no compassion for them. _________________ And he lived happily ever after. Except for the dieing at the end and the heartbreak in between. |

I have as much compaassion for Legion as I do for anyone in such difficulty.
Naturally we all hope he is fine, but I think we would do well to consider the people we know to be dead and do what we can to help. (and I don't mean CPR)
Just because they have not posted here does not make their life any less worthy.
It's thinking like this that encourages high-altitude bombing. If we can't see their faces or hear their screams then they don't count. |
