Prison Mafia, Deadline Lifted

Urgent News Bulletin: Local Warden Narninian MURDERED

Guards say they have narrowed down the suspects to a few prisoners, and have isolated them in a seperate section of the prison. All records of the prisoners were burned, so it will be several days before they figure out who is in for what. Guards also say that the Warden's murder has been a result of an in prison gang war that has going on for quite a while now. Narninian's replacement has commented that he will take all measures necessary to stop the violence. More on this story later.

You wake up, the first morning after the Warden has been murdered. A new warden has already replaced the old - and he starts giving everyone a long lecture about how he wants justice. He tells you all that he WILL find the person responsible, and starts rambling some more. You quickly learns he means business, however, when he says he will be executing those responsible. He tells you, that he wants you to do the work, and tell him who is responsbile - for he will be executing them today. Whoever the most people blame for the murder will be killed tonight.

Nobody died over the night, but You find that Porro is not among the gathered prisoners. One of the guards whispers

"He was put into Solitairy Confinement"

With 13 left alive 7 votes are needed to lynch

I wonder why no one was killed last night. Either we had a lucky doc, or putting Porro in solitary confinement stopped the kill (or maybe the scum was too late with their choice).

2. More puzzling to me is Porro being in solitary at all. What kind of role sends people to solitary? A police informant? Maybe this is our doc role, who isolates people from the bad guys for the night at their own expense the next morning. Seeing as Porro and ralphmerridew (rm is the acceptable abbreviation, yes?) are the two most experienced here, that wouldn't surprise me.

This is either a) an objection to not being put in the two most experienced or b) an honest question.

If it's a), I'm going by memory, but I'm fairly certain that while Porro goes back before 38, and rm goes back further than that, both in playing and moderating under a certain actual name (not dropped here in case,) you joined the GL and mafiascum close to MS starting, placing you around #3 on the experience list. If I'm wrong, my apologies in advance. If it's b), and the question is "How do you know this;" well, I do my research.

Sorry to double post. If you take 'experienced' as 'number of games played,' I think jadesmar beats Porro and maybe ralphmerridew — certainly rm is the most experienced mod.

My experienced player list would probably consist of the following:

who seems, somehow, to play more games than I do.

But, I don't think of any one of these people are more or less experienced. Though, Bayard has admittedly been out of the loop for a year and I can't quite recall how many games he was in before then.

As for whether it was a) or b). It was c)

c) I find it interesting that from all the people in this list, most who have been playing mafia for more than 2 years, you felt a need to single out 2 players as "most experienced".

Oh, just doing my own bit of reseach. Apparently Bayard modded maf 38.

Porro, Bayard (PuzzleProdigy), and AnnoyingPest were all playing Mafia before I arrived (I first played 38, but I was a late-game substitution then); Bayard's been away for a little while, and AP left not too long after I arrived.

Then again, while experienced, I don't think my record as a player has been that great, and I haven't been playing as frequently in recent times.

the town could not beleive he could be Mafia.

We did win though.

If discussion picks up, and it is requested I can extend the deadline - but it would be better if I could end the day then. There are still a few days before then however, so Its not a problem yet.

What do you guys consider winning?

Winning for me means you're still alive at the end of it which I haven't done in any of my games. But if the definitions are that you were on the winning team (whether alive or dead) then I have a perfect record 2/2 =)

Anybody have an idea to get this game going?

Ok, I am not entirely comfortable with voting at this point, but, since pressured, I am most comfortable with a vote for Meursault at this point.

Slightly non-random, but only slightly. Mostly for the "most experienced" comments, but not in an OMGUS way.

When we have 6 or 7 players that have been playing greater than 2 years. "Most experienced" is not that useful a concept. And, if someone thinks this way, they may be more likely to target Porro. Who may have been saved due to being removed to solitary confinement.

Ok, its a huge logical leap, but I must reiterate, my vote is only slightly better than random IMHO.

Fair, however, I think you are missing my actual argument which is this.

I found the "most experienced" concept foreign to my thinking process in a game with 6 or 7 very experienced players.

My argument is that, since you are the one that brought it up. It seems as if it is a more common thought process to you. And, hence, may have affected your night choices (if any).

And, I must reiterate, I admit it is not a strong argument but I find it just slightly better than random.
