It looks to me like Mudbuck was randomly voting and I was retaliating and neither of us is likely to really be Mafia. Of course at this point in the game that's true of anyone.

It could also be that Mudbuck is Mafia and was randomly voting so it wouldn't look like he was being too quiet. That could be true of any random voter as well, except for maybe the first one since the Mafia wouldn't want to attract that much attention. Maybe the second or higher random voters would make good lynch victims.

I'll go back over the thread to see if I can pick up on the mudbuck suspicions people seem to have. But feel free to summarize the reasons if you have the time.

Alright, listen to me.

If you kill me first, and it turns out that I'm a mafia, then you've killed a mafia. But, if I turn out to be a cop, then you'll kill Chuck, right? But that way, you'll have a very good chance of losing a cop.

Then again, if you kill Chuck first, and if he's mafia, then you've killed a mafia. But, if he's not mafia, then you'll kill me, thinking that I'm a mafia. You'll kill a mafia or a fanatic that'll won't help you win, town. This way, you'll not get rid of a cop, except at the slim chance that Chuck is a cop, which is a role he has not claimed yet, which, I'll assure you, he will, when everybody starts lynching him in some round or another.

So, what happens if we lynch Chuck today and it turns out that he is innocent and you are not a normal cop (ie. always get guilty results, always get backward results)?

If you are a cop, coming out on the first day was a very bad move, you can not be sure that your results are 100% accurate. And you have possibly set us up to lynch two townies including yourself.

I don't see how you are playing in the town's best interest.

I see it more like this:

Kill me, see I'm innocent, and then suspect and kill Mudbuck, and see he's innocent. Two townies dead.

Kill Mudbuck, see he's not a cop, lose suspicion of me. One townie dead.

Obviously it's better to start by killing Mudbuck.

The probability that Mudbuck is a cop seems negligible. He was obviously randomly voting and is now trying to save himself. Even if everyone believes he's a cop and lynches me it will at best save him by only one day.

He's probably innocent but his probability of being innocent is no greater than anyone else's. Unless we're extremely lucky we're going to lynch several innocent people before the last Mafia dies. We just have to accept that and get on with the game.
