Update: Townie mgm has been lynched. Townie Porro was shot by the mafia.

ALIVE AND KICKING (5)
Andrew Sullivan
Egon Crackerjack
enb
Huey
Stile

DEAD AND RESTING (3)
Tenshi (doctor, shot)
mgm (townie, lynched)
Porro (townie, shot)

Roles:

One mafia family (2 players, no godfather)
One cop
One doctor
Four townies

THE RULES:
[01] Have fun and don't be a jerk. Please have consideration for the other players and the mod, and actually PLAY the game by posting and voting.
[02] No communication outside the thread unless your role allows you to do so and then only in the game's nights.
[03] Get your choices in before the deadlines. If not, a random choice will be made for the first night, and no choice for subsequent nights.
[04] No quoting my or others emails. No paraphrasing of winning conditions either.
[05] If you're dead YOU'RE DEAD. No more posting relevant information after that.
[06] Lynching will be carried out once a regular majority is reached - and cannot be undone by unvoting. If I impose a day deadline, lynching will require at least half of the regular majority. In case of a tie, first come first served. In the endgame (6 or less) only a real majority will result in a lynch.
[07] Only votes in BOLD will be counted. Please clearly unvote if you want to change your vote.
[08] Do NOT edit or delete your posts! If you made a coding error, just post again.
[09] Do NOT post in invisible text.
[10] The mod is always right. Accept the decisions, and if you want to discuss them, take it to email, or do so after the game has finished.

Advices:
[11] If you know you will not be checking the thread for a period of 72 hours or more, it would be nice if you would post that beforehand.
[12] If your email does not contain your GL name, please identify yourself in the text of the email.
[13]If you're out of the game, you may come back as substitute - only if you do not talk to other players about the game after your death of course.

And we're off! All except Egon (who will probably be replaced by Crackerjack, see post 1) and Tenshi. No need to replace him. A bullet in his head was a convincing argument. A very bad start for the town: you have lost your doctor.

With seven alive, four votes required to lynch someone. Good luck!

Porro, you're joking about MgM being quiet right? The day's barely started. Not good to have the doctor already dead. We're gonna have to make up for it with our wit and sheer luck.

DP, is there a voting deadline?

Seriously, editing a post is NOT done in mafia. If it does not get you modkilled, there is a good chance the other players will lynch you for it.

Glad to see you. The longest name thing was just an odd way of justifying a random vote.

It's a good thing I didn't apply for comedy mafia.

Good Morning

Sorry for not posting sooner. It looks like everyone apart from Crackerjack, Huey and myself has picked up a vote so far. I don't have much experience in this; unless we get information from our cop what should we be basing our first round voting on? I don't really want to start a bandwagon, or vote for myself, so I will vote for Crackerjack for just now.

Vote: Crackerjack

No.

I'm what is known as a Mafia Seer.

I new Mgm was planning to lurk, so voted.

I then foresaw he would react by posting as soon as he saw my post, in an attempt to prove he was not planning to lurk.

However, I also knew that, because he was planning to lurk, he would be cought unprepared by my accusation, and thus post nothing but drivel.

I must now resume my trance to identify the other mafioso.

This is no good. Our votes are all scattered and it won't get us anywhere. What say we agree on one person eh? Preferrably one that hasn't posted yet. I'm suspicious of silent players, they are either mafia laying low or forgot about the game, which wouldn't help us in the long run either.

The two people who haven't posted yet are Stile and CrackerJack.

*apologizes for being quiet.

It's not usually my plan, but sometimes, things don't go as planned.
(spent this weekend in a surprise Stag/Baseball Tournament 6 hours from home for a buddy who's getting married)

However, I have noticed one thing. No one here has the guts to place a second vote on another player for fear of being blamed as mafia. So:

Vote: MGM
For making up a reason to suspect Crackerjack and not double-voting someone after so many people have one against them already.

..and takes a long hard stare at Huey. His first post seems to do nothing but blatantly state the obvious. It seems... forced.. to me.

The reason I FOSsed crackerjack, was because he seemed to post only because he was voted for. I didn't bandwagon yet, because I have no leads to follow. But now you've voted me for such a crap reason, I do. I know it looks like an OMGUS vote, but at least I've got a reason.

Your reason for putting a second vote on me is crap.

Yes, I know. I read your original post about it, your reasons were there. I don't agree with your rational. The way I see it, you were only looking for a reason to vote for someone, and created a feeble-looking one on the spot.
Quote:
I didn't bandwagon yet, because I have no leads to follow.

I know, it's only the first day. However, I was just stating that I find it peculiar that I (being the last one to vote, I think) was the first to put up a second vote on someone. If everyone votes on different people we hardly get anywhere. This, I think you know. Yet, you promote:
Quote:
Come one people, talk!
This, to me, seems to be a scape-goat for you. You want people to talk, so that some people will argue, then at least someone will make up a valid reason to bandwagon and you can jump in on that in order to get someone lynched and look like you didn't start it.

If you want to move the game along, do it yourself, do not put the pressure on your fellow players.

Quote:
I'll give all the lurkers some time to post. Again, if nothing happens I'll start a bandwagon on someone next Tuesday (May 11).

Again, I read this as: "I want a bandwagon started soon, but don't get mad at me if I have to start it". This is a hunt for suspicion. I find your actions highly suspicious.

--------------------------------
This is the part of my post where I defend myself against people who've voted against me. But I cannot argue against nothing, so I have no defense.
--------------------------------

Huey's reason to vote me: "...to get him to speak up."
--Can't think of any other way to defend against this.
Mgm's reason to vote me: "...you've voted me for such a crap reason.."
--I cannot provide you with a reason to unvote me unless you produce an actual reason for your vote against me. Insults do not count as reasons. Although they are fun. Dump-face.

My vote for Mgm will stand until I am satisfied that my reasoning really is "crap", or if a better reason to vote against someone else comes along.

Whoops, realized you could take this paragraph two ways. My context for this statement is to say that "this game is a hunt for suspicion", not that I think Mgm's statement implies he was hunting for suspicion.

Didn't register your question 'till I read through the thread a second time. This is by no means a "how the game's played", but more of a "my own opinion answer", so read it and use it or ignore it :]

There's generally not much to base your voting on for the first few days. And it doesn't really get any easier as the game goes on, although it DOES get more entertaining. Thus you see the mute-vote (voting against someone for not posting anything in the game). However, since this is a game of lying, it is up to you to decide what you should exactly be basing your votes on. When it comes down to it, you just have to go with your gut feelings. No one's going to say "I'm mafia, vote against me". And even when someone does say "I'm a cop, vote against xxxxx, they're mafia", it's still tough to decide if they're telling the truth. So my big long explanation here comes to a simple answer: what should we be basing our first round voting on? I have no clue. But have fun figuring it out on your own :]

Like this post here. Am I being a nice guy? Or am I a blood-thirsty assassin who wants to get on your good side so you won't vote against me?

And hopefully (although it's not looking so hot for me) we'll see you tomorrow!

Damn. What this an essay contest? =p

I'm unvoting: Stile because he is no longer silent, and because no mafia in his right mind would go through all that trouble. Of course it may be a trick, so we'll see.

I'm going to hold out voting for a tad bit longer until DP cracks his whip and tell us to get on with it. FOS at Porro for his random voting MGM. He (jokingly?) accused of MGM of being quiet and lurking, even though the game barely started. And when MGM did speak up, Porro didn't unvote him.
