| That's what I was thinking about about Phillip Vandamm from North by Northwest. That was James Mason's character. It was Cary Grant who saved Eva Marie Saint on the face of Mount Rushmore at the end. If the mason group is, as I suspect, a bunch of James Mason roles, then one like that could also be a mafia spy or something. |

I was going to joke about role claiming as the invisible man, but considering how things have gone so far I was afraid someone might think I was serious |

| I used Excel's random function in the lineup of players, and kd happened to have the lowest value returned. That's why I voted her. Each player had an equal chance of being selected, so my voting for kd was indeed a random event. It had nothing to do with the vote count. |

Uh-huh. So if I flip heads 10 times in a row, my next flip is almost assuredly going to be tails, huh? |

I'm not sure whether there are likely to be many more pro-town killers, but with 3 (presumably) evil killing groups/people I certainly expect there to be a lot of interesting/useful pro-town roles, as there were in DP's last Discworld themed game.
As discussed by others above, I do not believe that there would be a single mason. It'd defeat the whole point of masonhood. |

Unvote: xerOx (it was a silly vote anyways)
And if an untampered with, unbiased coin has been flipped 20 times and came up heads every time, the EXACT possability of the coin being flipped the 21st time and it being heads is 1:2, or 50%. It doesn't matter what has been flipped before, a coin flip is ALWAYS a 50% chance.
Now, if you were calculating the probability of flipping a coin 21 times and having it come up with heads every time, that would be 1:1048576, or .000095%. I think. You get the idea anyways. Any questions? |

Yes.
Questions:
Would these probabilities change if
a. There is no way to verify that any coin has been flipped. or
b. There is a possibility that someone would lie about the results to force a bandwagon? |

No. The veracity of the results would be in question, but the probability would remain the same. |

Random to the extent that a random vote resulted in a third-on-a-bandwagon, and that's who I voted for. Oh no - I'm the third voter for Sweetwater. ~grits teeth and prepares for impact~ |

(Have fun, Bear!)
More notes on probability: a truly random vote, as the day goes on (and more people have voted), has an increasing chance of landing on someone who's already been voted for. People who voted later in the day, if they vote randomly, are more likely to start a bandwagon.
Mafia (and masons) have slightly less random votes, of course, because they probably won't vote for one of their own. But they still might, just to muddy the waters.

Maybe this works better for TANSTAAFL, though I had based the first movie on the resemblance to Ms. Derek and my own personal fantasies.
BTW, JDTAY, you don't need to know anything about classic movies to participate. I had to look up Madame Bovary. I had head of the novel but not the movie. And it wasn't until much later that I made the connection between BT being a mason and the fact that the role was played by James Mason. You are being much too quiet. The last time I was in a game with you, your silence turned out to be the result of guilt at having blood on your hands. Hmmmm.... |

Personally I didn't vote for you because of anything you've done. First day someone has to go in the barrel. Typically there is no strong reason for it. And it sucks, I'm glad it's not me. It's very difficult to come out of it ok. You either get lynched or you have to reveal your role. Most people who reveal their roles don't survive long. But it has to happen.
