Guide to Perpetual Mafia

Perpetual Mafia is played like any other game of mafia, for the most part. During each of the game's "night" periods, the Mafia (bad guys) eliminate a player from the game. During the "day", the remaining players (mostly townsfolk, the good guys) get to eliminate another player - the first to have over 50% of the town voting against him is removed.

Normally, game would turn to night, and the Mafia would then get another chance to kill someone, but in Perpetual Mafia, after someone is lynched, the players who were eliminated are replaced. Also, if a Mafia member is killed, the family is able to choose a member of the townsfolk to replace them. So the game doesn't end! Great, isn't it! It does make it rather hard for a clear winner to emerge though, so I'll set up a Hall of Fame for the exceptional players. As a Mafia member, your goal is to kill as many people as possible , and as a Townsfolk, you need to catch and lynch as many bad guys as you can.

There are some other roles and twists I have planned, but you don't have to worry about those just yet.

Rules:
Most of the rules are covered in the General Etiquette section of the mafiascum.net FAQ. It's really important that you don't tell anyone your role in this game, especially if they're in the signup queue. If you do, and they enter the game knowing you're mafia, you won't last very long at all.

A full moon shone brightly over the local church, much to the dismay of the two figures trying to have a secret discussion inside. The first had seated himself on the steps in front of the altar and was rifling through his briefcase; his partner paced the length of the hall, pausing occasionally to glance out of the nearest window.

"I don't like this at all," he whispered.

"Well, you knew exactly what you were in for when you signed up for this job, and you can't bail out on me tonight. Now get down before someone sees us."

"I hardly think that's an issue now..."

The first man stood up quickly and removed a gun from the case on the floor. "What are you talking about? Who's there?" No response. "Oh, don't tell me you mean... that's ridiculous." He shook his head and went back to his work. "Maybe I shoulda chose someone else."

"Maybe you shoulda done some research before you got here."

"What?"

The second figure stopped in front of the door and pointed to a small statue in the corner. "Him. Saint Jose, Paragon and patron saint of Mafia Hunters, Defender of the Innocent. All previous attempts to take over this town have failed. Because of him. And don't think we're going to-" His partner held a hand up to silence him, then pointed to the door. He stepped aside and hid behind it as it opened and someone cautiously walked in.

"Anyone here? I thought I heard someone..."

The man at the altar closed his case and stood up. "Oh, hi. I'm just about to leave now." Satisfied, the newcomer turned to leave, but the man called out for him to wait. "Say, could you take a message for me?"

"I guess... what do you want me to say?"

"Tell him... tell him that Don Infinito has come to take over this town. And the 'innocent' civilians here are going to let me do it - I've already recruited one to my cause. It's inevitable - there's absolutely nothing he can do to prevent it."

He was met with a blank stare. "Now."

"What... who do I tell?"

"Him." He pointed, smiling, to the statue of St Jose. "This 'Polygon' of yours."

That's when it clicked. He tried to turn and run, but the man behind the door fired two shots into his back. As he fell to the floor, there was another shot - or a clap of thunder, and the room went dark. The two mafia looked at each other and made a hasty retreat.

Black clouds still covered the sky when the rest of the town discovered the body of quercitron lying in front of the statue. They placed a small memorial outside, and after a short service, readied themselves for the unhappy task at hand.

What an interesting scenario. If I was to join on the vote for Leonidas, and planky or amb do the same then the person who is left would have to figure out who of the two is the most scummish. Might be interesting.
