Do we have a board and card games thread? I'm really into them and was wanting a place to review and discuss some of the hot, new games out there.

Does that actually do something other than loop the first piece over and over? I was expecting that it would release another piece each loop, and the player would have to try to fit it into the set that is always falling and looping, with control only over the current piece.

I think that would be an interesting twist on Tetris. Change up arrow to mean slow the current piece's rate of falling and use space to rotate it, so you could work on rows from above or below.

Are you saying there is really a game to play there? I couldn't get it to do anything more than have the one piece keep falling from top to bottom and then popping back to the top. There were never any other pieces or anything interesting to do.

Kingdom of Loathing
A web-page based RPG. Limited daily actions. Lots of humor.

If you haven't played it yet, you should. If you have, but stopped, pick it up again. They've been improving it lately. LOTS to do, lots of variety.

Passed the title screen, on the first stage I got past the cat to the first set of moving platforms. I could go further given enough time, but I have other things to do right now.

Thank you. One of the best games I have ever played. If game is the right word for it - it's more of a novella with shmup interludes. But a worthwhile experience, nonetheless.

The novella is essentially a Japanese dating sim mixed with a shmup.

There's a bunch of relationship values that depend on your actions: there's even a bonus if you manage to get every characters relationship value to 10, which is fairly hard (among other things, you need to play on hard and not die at all before the second boss fight.)

Edit: Also, the person who wrote the music for RPG Shooter: Starwish made Snailiad, which is a fun Metroidvania style game.

The semi-Minesweeper game that wasn't linked properly in VSP made me wonder if this had been posted here.

Mamono Sweeper

It's basically Minesweeper in reverse. Which makes it slightly easier but it requires slightly different logic patterns.

I thought this was fun. There are a couple where timing is important, but generally, once you've figured out the trick, it isn't very hard to get the timing right.

Planning and timing -- more planning, though. I liked it, especially when I beat a level that I had thought impossible for a while.

Much like many similar games, but fun nonetheless. I was able to get a star on every level but 13. I'm convinced that 13 is possible by shooting directly for the bouncy thing through the gap, but it's too much getting lucky with the timing. (I've had it go both over and short of the target with that approach, I just can't seem to hit the target.)

Edit: I wrote that after probably 30 tries. Then I went back and got it on my second try after writing it.

So: Star on every level. Beat that!

I went all the way through this, though the last few levels were an exercise in patience. Up until around level 19, however, I thought it was clever, with quite a few new twists along the way. http://armorgames.com/play/12383/canary

One tip, if you're on a level where it seems that there is a section that is impossible to get through without taking damage, then you're missing something. There are quite a few where, with speed and good reactions you can get through a big mess taking only one hit, but they all have a more clever approach that you could make in which you take none.
