I'm afraid I'm confused as to whether they go together or not. I know how it's supposed to work, but somehow my brain exploded.

one small step, keep going Remember I'm fairly literate - it may not be quite "kosher" but it definitely is a signmaker. example may not be the best word - you might think "release" instead. |

| I have re-clued the first line in an attempt to clarify it. The sequence of words is very close to the order of the clues. |

| Okay, I've never done a signmaker thing before, so could someone fill me in on how to do this, or send me to some old post if you hate having to answer people's questions over and over. |

Signmakers are rearrangements of the spacing in one sentence to form another, usually with an entirely different meaning. For example, a phrase I saw in my father's vehicle:
"Grand Caravan"
can become
"Grand car: a van"
(signmakers are usually more involved than this example) |

And, as I once discovered, a certain Nintendo game (Yoshi's Story) can become a book with the following excerpt:
"Once upon a time there was a boy named Yos. He had lots of fun playing games like 'Hide and Seek' and 'Kick the Can' with his friends. Each week he would buy bubble gum so he could collect bubble gum cards, but other than that, Yos had an extremely dull life. . ." Yos: His Story! |

I'd guess that the last word of the first one is "version".
I'm stuck beyond that, though. |

| Luna has made some progress. I have added a word to the clue as a hint. It does not translate into the signmaker however. |

Does "moves" clue "hovers"?
Does "spar" clue "mast"? |

| In that case, the first word in the first sign would be "Note"? |

That would give 'not a ben eater' (as in Ben Nevis).
