My wife lost something that she uses every day. Then she checked a website and figured out exactly where she left it.

What is the object, and where did she leave it?

(Note: This story is only partially based on reality...she found it in a different place than in this story, but this situation makes a better lateral puzzle.)

Does the website itself specifically matter (Google, Yahoo, etc)?

Was the object her car keys?
Was the object small enough to fit in her purse? Wallet?
Was the object flat, like a drivers license?
Did she lose her reading glasses, but then found them near the computer? Or on her head?

A phone?

I always keep my phone on silent, so when I misplace it, that stinks. I was thinking there should be a way for me to make my phone ring even though it is on silent. Maybe there is, and that is the solution?

Was it a physical object (as opposed to information, like a password)?

I like this idea...she went on Skype, saw herself on the webcam, and found the glasses on her head.

Is the object something only your wife uses (versus something you would use)?

Does your wife have a medical condition that requires the object, like an inhaler?

Did the website itself pinpoint the location of the object? Or did the website simply trigger a memory?

When she couldn't find it, she lost that too (in real life and in the story).

Is the object tied to something she would ingest?
Is the object tied to something that helps break a habit?
Is the object electronic?

Is the object necessary or more a preference?

Is the object tied to diet or exercise?

Yes. Didn't know that one would fall so easily.

Full story: My wife lost her Fitbit pedometer. She searched for it for days, but couldn't find it anywhere. She went onto the Fitbit website and saw that it had registered a couple hundred steps over the past couple of days, and realized that the only place that it could be where that would happen was in her car.
