I've been playing around with HDR for a while now - nothing serious.

(and maybe I'm senile and posted these before?)

Some great pictures!

If you're concerned that the link will expire, I'll be glad to put it up on zag.net. They give me so much space that I don't even almost use...

Timelapse video I took yesterday:
http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=HFJEx_zRZGU&vq=hd1080

Just got back last night from an 18 day road trip, from Northeast PA (home) to Washington DC to Cumberland Island, Georgia & Amelia Island, Florida to New Orleans (my favorite part of the trip) to Huntsville, Alabama (Space Center) to Tennessee (Fairfield Glade, near Crossville ... visited Fall Creek Falls, 256 feet high, highest falls in US east of the Mississipi ... and visited a five story tall tree house) to Shenandoah State Park in Virginia (Blue Ridge Parkway & Skyline Drive) ... to back home. 3,400 total miles driven.

I'll post more pics soon (would have sooner, but they exceed glpics size limit).

Very cool! You've got a great view of the two layers of clouds interacting and casting shadows. How long was that in real time?

I think it was about 41 minutes - one shot every 3 seconds (each shot actually 5 in rapid succession, at different exposures, combined to HDR frames). I bought a cheap (around $10 or $15) intervalometer on Amazon to trigger the shots.

In real life, you could barely notice the clouds were moving at all, and certainly could get no sense of the ways in which they move ... not just moving, but forming and dissolving ... and as you noted, higher layers moving in one direction, lower layers another.

I plan on trying some more HDR timelapse stuff - not sure what yet.

I found myself distracted between the clouds and their shadows. Very cool stuff. The rhythm almost felt like the undulations of the ocean.

Ah, you're the one that posted that pic of the girl with open and closed eyes?

Yeah, my daughter waking up after a backyard camp-out. I thought her eyes were closed when I took the pic, still peacefully asleep. About a year later I was going through pics, and noticed something:

The amazing thing is that nothing else in the pic is blurred, so the shutter speed was fast enough that catching her eyelids both closed and open was pretty unlikely ... and the open eyes look wide awake.
