Is the answer as simple as eight pirates (with eyepatches and peglegs)?

So, I screwed up and forgot to send the puzzle last night. I thought I'd be smart and send the files to my work computer, and I just happened to forget the one I needed. I'll post Y2.3 later. In the meantime...

Yellow Path 3, Puzzle 1:

Arrange 10 coins into 5 rows of 4 coins each.

Stealing from Jack_Ian in post 5, but I can make 7 unique rows of 4 just by making a straight line. I don't think the wording of the puzzle precludes this as a correct solution, though it's obviously not intended.

Quailman has the expected answer, but I can not find fault with Suspence's answer either.

Yellow Path 3, Puzzle 2: Strimko

The objective of a Strimko puzzle is to fill the grid with numbers so that each column, each row, and each stream contain all of the digits from 1 to 6 (once each).

I still cant post the final riddles for the yellow paths, so on to the red! These may be a bit more familiar to some people.

Red Path 1, Puzzle 1:

There is a text in a Yale library, worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. No one knows how old it is. No one has ever read it. What is the text most commonly called?

Red Path 1, Puzzle 2:
Sam was a privateer of impeccable breeding, who felt morally obliged to marry each of the young women he met and fell in love with in different ports during the early part of his career afloat. When the time finally came for him to retire, his problems really started. However, all we are concerned with here is to discover from the clues given below, which girl he married in which port in what year, and how old she was at the time of their marriage.
1. The girl Sam married in Plymouth was older than both his immediately previous bride and Dolores, whom he married in 1680.
2. Susan was 20 when she was swept off her feet and up the aisle by Sam; this was not in 1676.
3. Maria, the Maltese lady Sam wed in Valetta, was older at the time of her marriage than Abigail, who was not his first wife.
4. The 19-year-old bride did not live in Liverpool.
5. The wife Sam married in 1665 was 18 at the time.
6. The marriage to the girl aged 22 took place in an earlier year than the one in Bilbao, but was not the immediately preceding ceremony.
7. The Cape Town wedding took place some time prior to the one with Jenny, who was a younger bride.

I'm fairly sure that this is impossible, given that we have 5 names and 5 ports, but only 3 years of marriage, and 4 years of age.

You are correct bgg. As I said, I am posting what was put out at the event first (unedited). This was brought to my attention, which was when I realized that I had forgotten the book from which I got the logic puzzle (and therefore did not have the answer).
In an effort to quickly fix the situation, I added 1668 and 1672 as the extra years, and 21 as the additional age.

Still impossible.

Quote:
and Dolores, whom he married in 1680.

Quote:
Abigail, who was not his first wife

Obviously, neither of these would be Sam's first wife.

Quote:
5. The wife Sam married in 1665 was 18 at the time.
Quote:
2. Susan was 20

Neither is Susan.

Quote:
Maria, the Maltese lady Sam wed in Valetta, was older at the time of her marriage than Abigail

Since Maria is older than Abigail, she can't be 18, the lowest age, and therefore can't be Sam's first wife.

Quote:
7. The Cape Town wedding took place some time prior to the one with Jenny

If the Cape Town wedding was before Jenny's, Jenny's wedding isn't the first.

Which girl did Sam marry first?

Again correct, unfortunately. After I started working through the puzzle I realized that the logic was still flawed and unable to be solved. I then replaed the puzzle entirely with a sum sudoku (which I will find and post soon).

I have two aspects, as you will see.
My first likes to travel with brothers three.
Always in lockstep we move about,
for if we are not, one will cry out.

T'other aspect is something you do
when the task you're performing completely bores you,
or if you've been up -- too long awake.
Now guess what I am, for goodness' sake.

Correct bgg, and thanks again to Zag for allowing me to borrow his puzzle.

I apologize for my lack of posting across the weekend, I was on military duty. Back to your previously scheduled headaches...

Red Path 2, Puzzle 1:

Young Jim Hawkins and five pirates had just recovered a chest of gold coins. Young Jim was entrusted to guard the gold while the pirates slept. During the night, one pirate awoke and divided the gold into five even piles, with one coin left over. He hid one pile for himself and gave the coin to Jim to keep quiet. Throughout the night the four remaining pirates did the same thing, each ending up with one left over coin which they gave to Jim. In the morning they discovered that the (now noticeably smaller) pile divided evenly into fifths. What is the fewest coins they could have began with?

I came up with 2496 and another number I can no longer remember due a combination of misunderstanding the question, and writing shoddy formulas.

Both are incorrect Suspence.

2496/5=499 (w/1 left over)
2495-500=1996 (after 1st pirate)
1996/5=399 (w/1 left over)
1996-400=1596 (after 2nd pirate)
1596/5=319 (w/1 left over)
1596-320=1276 (after 3rd pirate)
1276/5=255 (w/1 left over)
1276-256=1020 (after 4th pirate)
1020/5=204 (w/0 left over)

Aha...Figured out what I was doing wrong...I think it's 3121

Pirate 1 sees - 3121
Coins in each pile - 624
Pirate 2 sees - 2496
Coins in each pile - 499
Pirate 3 sees - 1996
Coins in each pile -399
Pirate 4 sees - 1596
Coins in each pile - 319
Pirate 5 sees - 1276
Coins in each pile - 255

Larger numbers I've found that work are 6246, 9371, 12496, 15621...found it by writing some Excel formulas.

I think I missed one of the pirates on my last attempt, i.e. that number works for 4 pirates.

Red Path 2, Puzzle 2: Kakuro

The object of a Kakuro is to insert a digit from 1 to 9 into each white cell such that the sum of the numbers in each entry matches the clue associated with it and that no digit is duplicated in any connected row or column.

First, drop the A after sees, trees, goes, and grows. Those were punctuation that the font translated incorrectly.
Second, the 5th word is "nobody". Apparently this font considers I and Y to be the same.
Third, "wg any wg" is "up and up". The font also considers u and w the same.

Again, apologies for errors in the font. I shall proofread more carefully in the future.
