Not sure if anyone here is interested in URL-changing puzzles, but I used to be fascinated with them, mostly The Engima Puzzle and Notpron.

Anyhow, I had started my own years ago, got a few levels under my belt and let it stall. If you're interested, click on the link to my website below to take a look at the developed levels, or go here - http://www.glpics.com/suspence13/puzzle/start.htm

If anyone else in interested in these types of puzzles, I'd welcome feedback on any of the current levels, as well as ideas for puzzles to make future levels. I think it would be great to have a large puzzle of this type designed by the GL.

If you need any help, here are the solutions to the first 20 levels, and I'd be glad to add more information on how the solution is reached if needed.

Each level solved after Level 20 will be credited to the first person to solve it.

Level 0 - http://glpics.com/suspence13/puzzle/start.htm
Level 1 - http://glpics.com/suspence13/puzzle/thebeginning.htm

Am I the only one who can't seem to get past the first level?

I looked at the source code, and it said welcome. There was an invised 'It's usually wise to begin at the beginning ' so I typed in /beginning.htm as the URL, but that wasn't it. I'm out of ideas.

Try http://www.glpics.com/suspence13/puzzle/thebeginning.htm

If that's is a common mistake, I wonder if I should make a beginning.htm page with a hint to get to the right page. Seems only fair for a first page, I don't want to discourage people.

EDIT: I added a hint page at beginning.htm

Good idea. I hit the same stumbling block, and even tried a few other things, but not the right one.

Edit: Nice. I like the hint a lot.

Sweet. I think that is a big improvement already.

The next page has two potential solutions, one leads to a new puzzle, one to an easter egg page.

Well, now I didn't get past the second page. This might be too hard for me. Extreme Delectation

I tried all of these (with .htm after them)

adam, genesis, exodus (which I really thought would work, once I thought of it), adamandeve, PageNumbers/two, god, fallofman

I also zoomed in on the picture to see what was written on the sign behind Adam, but I still couldn't read it completely. I assume it's something in Latin. Anyway, it was too long to make a reasonable URL.

Zooming in won't improve the resolution. Open fallofman.jpg and read the sign.

Edit: Never mind, that's the same resolution. It says "comparingapplesto"

Meh. I got it, but I like exodus.htm better.

I had used Windows Magnifier to zoom in, and it zoomed too much (by default) to be readable. When I set it to less zoom, it was fine.

The intention is to open the actual image and see it larger, but looks like I messed up the sizing. Let me fix that.

I fail the eye test. It's making my head hurt to look at it.

Edit: Also, you should have a nicer 404 page. That one is heinous and an advertisement, making it even more offensive.

While my head is comfortably non-hurting, and I think I can make out the orientation of the 'E's, I do not know the answer.

Maybe either the name of the test, or some kind of binary code?

Use a .gif or .png for the eye test; .jpegs aren't good for that.

I'm not sure what to do on the calendar page, though.

I fixed the fall of man picture, so please try that one again and see if that is better.

I will edit the eye test image as suggested.

Does the name of the image help at all on the calendar puzzle?

At the risk of sounding dumb, how do I edit the 404 page? I didn't know I could control that.

Eye test is now a .png

Think of a movie title that equates to "2 days from now"

Lots of good feedback so far, and lots of changes that improve the puzzle over all. Thanks.

Has anyone passed the calendar yet?

Trying to figure out how to change the 404 page, as I agree with Zag's complaint.

January 23rd, 1737 appears to have been a tuesday, not a monday.

Edit: This calendar says it was a wednesday?

But not getting it right is an unfair distraction, if it being wrong is not significant.

Sid Deuce ??? Hmmm, I guess M. Night Shyamalan, then

And I find nothing for September. never mind ... got it. It's nice that you picked up the obvious incorrect one, since that comes up much higher on Google.

There are additional clues that will ensure you know which to pick for each month. Did you read the source? Try changing the contrast of the image

Yes, I've posted Level 5 here as a standalone puzzle before. http://www.greylabyrinth.com/discussion/viewtopic.php?t=13366

Per the suggestions here, I've changed the calendar to show accurate day/date combinations for each month, and I've changed the file to be a .png so the clues should be clearer.

the help screen you set up for the first one is a good idea. The easter egg one for the second one is cute. I'm on the third one right now, it seems quite annoying if the solution is what I think it is. If I'm right, it would've been better to also hide a text version in the page source or something similar, so I could parse it with a script rather than having to copy it down.
Of course, I could be way off-base here.

Antrax, not sure what you are trying, but I'm not sure that a text file will help. The easiest way I've found to solve it is with a printout of the image and a highlighter.
FYI, I've added about 6 new levels over the past few days. There are currently 22 total.

For the easter egg, what should you compare apples to?

Do I have to listen to the video to get the puzzle?

I like the easter egg. You should put something that is important much later in the source code of the easter egg page, perhaps with a hint later about the road not taken. Be careful, though, that they shouldn't be able to understand it without the later step also, or they might just skip a huge part of your puzzle.

How about this: In the source code of the easter egg, there is, "The key is asdflksdfsj." In a later puzzle, you just have Frost's poem, but with the initial letters of each line bolded. You set up your key so that the first letters of the poem comprise a Vigenère Cipher using that key. So the key is useless until you reach the page with the poem.

You don't have to listen to the video, just the chorus. Or you could just figure out what C.R.E.A.M is an acronym for, which should help you make sense of the images and their names.

On the easter egg idea, I like it. I actually have a few easter egg pages, so perhaps something that requires you to go back to each of them.

If you're an easter egg hunter, there are eggs on:
Level 9
Level 10
Level 15 (though it will be harder to miss it than to find it)
Level 19

make sure, then, that you hint that they exist. Perhaps have a tiny easter egg image on every page that has one. Also, make sure easteregg.htm has something interesting.

Oh that. I realized already what that hints at, but I still don't get it. Are the odd names of the images actually significant? I've tried many different combinations of the numbers of the images, the numbers of the bills those men appear on, choosing each of those numbers (and their sums) from the alphabet and from the man's name. Nothing makes anything like a word. Am I at least on the right track?

Have you tried multiplying the names by the values of the bills?
