I'd say close enough to call it solved. Eating brown bananas makes my unhappy, and yet I choose the brownest one every time in order to avoid eating a really gross one at the end of the week.

You should learn to make banana bread. That way you can always be happy in taking a ripe-but-not-overripe banana. At the end of the week, you will have a few "gross" bananas to make the the bread with. Besides, banana bread is best with brown bananas!
