Every time I have to make a choice about this, I choose the option that makes me least happy.

Does your choice make one or more other people happy?

Do you expect your choice to make you more happy in the long run?

Are we using the definition of 'happy' that we all expect?

Is the choice related to health, including (but not limited to) exercise and diet?

Is physical therapy involved?

Do you expect this choice to make you happy now?(even if it won't)
Are you a male?
Do you have to make this choice at least once a year?
once a month?
once a week?
once a day?
Does this choice have more than one answer?
Is the choice you make affecting others significantly?

Does "your choice" make you more happy than before (even if less happy than the alternatives)? Unhappy? Is it conceivable that you may not be called upon to make this choice, in which case you would be happier than if you had to make it?
[Scenario: Picking which soldier to send on a dangerous mission, or choosing what worker to promote. The best choice is also the one you least want to lose.]

Is happiness the primary criterion for your choice? Is the effect on your happiness an a priori known result of the choice? Does making the choice directly determine your happiness?
[Scenario: Choosing the shortest line in a store, always seem to get it wrong.]
[Scenario: Always picking against the home-team in a sports pool - knowing that it would make you unhappy if your team lost.]

Is your choice a choice among people? Is it a life-style choice (such as regarding food or recreation habits)? Is it a business decision?

Are you dead?
Are you married? I know it is a repeat...

So "this" is referring to one area that we are supposed to figure out?

Are you choosing the least "exciting" thing?

Eg, watching/listening to something that will bore you to sleep.

Does it involve exercising?

Does it involve another physical activity where the objective is to push yourself to the limits?

Is it the thing you "choose" itself that ultimately leads to your later fulfilment of being happy?
Do you "choose" to sit through Glee, or American Idol because your wife "makes" you do so. You HATE Glee or American Idol, but eventually you are happy because your wife..... (finish this your own way).

Are you choosing an activity?
Are you choosing what you will eat? Will not eat?
Are you choosing between drive alone versus public transportation/carpool?
Are you choosing path A versus path B? Path meaning physical path, highway versus back streets.

Are you choosing to eat "bland" foods?

Are you choosing what you eat based on:
Needing to lose weight?
Needing to gain weight?
You have high blood pressure?
You have high cholesterol?
You can't afford to go out to lunch with co-workers, have to bring your own lunch to work?

Is your choice of what you eat preventing you from going somewhere you used to enjoy going to?

Are you actually choosing something to eat (food) versus something you swallow (medicine)?
Are you choosing to avoid eating something?

Are you making this choice freely?
Are you in a situation where your previous choices are no longer available to you, so you now settle for the alternatives? (i.e. you want Starbucks coffee, but they closed down, now you only get Joe's coffee?)

Are you addicted? (only if it is relevant)
Are you pretending to be allergic to something? (to impress a girl?)
Is it because something is cheaper?
Does the choice that you are making have more than just two answers? (open-ended choice?)
Does this choice occur each and every day?
At around the same time each day?
Exactly the same time?
Do you choose not to eat something that you like because it is expensive?

Do you choose the one that will make you least happy in order to delay gratification?

In making your choice, do you eliminate that option from future choices? Will the things NOT chosen reproduce or be reproduced? Specifically, do you choose to always eat/drink your least favorite of the choices such that you are left with your more favorites?

Alternatively, are you a judge on a reality competition?

Are you trying to eliminate a specific food from your diet?
A specific type of food (e.g. meat?)
A specific brand?
Is your choice motivated by another person?
Is your choice motivated by religious reasons (e.g. Kosher?)
Is your choice motivated by financial reasons?
Besides you and the companies that market the foodstuffs you are buying, is anyone else happy that you have made this choice?

When I eat Runts (the candy) I always eat my least favorite ones (bananas) first, and work my way from least to most favorite--leaving the best (limes) for last.

Is your situation similar to my Runt eating?

Are you choosing to eat a food?

Are you choosing to eat a candy?

Are you being offered a choice by another person?

Is this a real life scenario (as in, is it something that has actually happened to you?)
