It must be easy -- even I know it! But I have no followup to offer.

Hotel California

I'll use a phrase, since there is no chance of my coming up with a single word. I consider this ridiculously easy, but maybe only because it is one of the few songs I listen to.

I don't think it's cheating to look at your guess first. It helped me remember Homeward Bound, which I am pretty sure of, but I will check first.

I knew it from 'shineth' but didn't have anything else to offer. Ok, keeping with the same theme, how about

Jewry

Last was Oh, Little Town of Bethlehem.

(For an atheist, I know a TON of Christmas songs, including the second and third verses of many of them.)

It's not In the bleak midwinter is it?

And I'm in the same atheist/xmas song boat. Our high school vocal jazz group would carol at a local craft co-op each year, with nerdy 4-part harmony and nerdier dickensian costumes that the place provided. So cool.

This is from memory -- someone else can check me.

God rest ye merry gentlemen, let nothing you dismay.
Remember Christ our savior is born on Christmas day,
To save us all from Satan's pow'rs when we were gone astray.
Oh tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy.
Oh tidings of comfort and joy.

In Bethlehem, in Jewry, the blessed babe was born.
And laid within a manger upon this blessed morn,
To which his mother Mary did nothing take in scorn.
Oh tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy.
Oh tidings of comfort and joy.

Somebody else can take the puzzle now. I'm out of ideas.

The first band I thought of after hearing Aussie war song was Midnight Oil, and sure enough, they have a song with the following phrase:
"MIDNIGHT OIL - THE GREAT GIBBER PLAIN LYRICS
From Gallipoli's cliffs. To the banks of the Thames For those that are nameless. Does memory remain"
