A large bottle of Bulmers and a pint glass full of ice, on a blistering hot day with the smell of burgers on the barbecue, the sound of kids laughing spraying each other with water and summer tunes drifting through the air.

The first pint of Guinness, when meeting with my brother in a good Guinness pub, just before the trad session begins. We both chat and wait for it to completely settle, with the creamy head beginning to take full shape standing just proud of the rim. At just the right moment, the glass is raised, cold to the touch, and a large mouthful is taken. The swallow always punctuated by "Ahhh!".

For me, it's not the drink, but the setting that makes it special.
