I was seriously just about to say that but after going back and reading some of the answers to some of the questions, I'm not 100% this fits. |

Not knowing much of anything about John Fogerty, I will press on:
Do the lyrics of the song (that they were mad at) make a claim? Did they claim greatness (e.g. We are the winners of Eurovision. Or Nobody rocks like we do)? Originality (e.g. Since we first showed up with our pirate hats on)? Do they reference another previous work by the Band (e.g. Some people call me the Space Cowboy)? |

Nope - all your answers fit to the scenario you had in mind.
I do wonder though what your answer would have been if I shortened my question to: Are they "neighbors" |

Seems to have stalled, so a recap and a hint.
John Fogerty was frontman and writer for CCR. After the band disolved, he continued his career going solo with a new label. His old producers are now mad about a particular new song. All that remains to be solved is to determine why exactly they are mad about the new song.
Hint: The record company did NOT win the ensuing law suit against Fogerty. |

A lawsuit claimed that "The Old Man Down The Road" shared the same chorus as "Run Through The Jungle" (a CCR song to which Fantasy Records owned the publishing rights). Fogerty ultimately won his case when he proved that the two songs were wholly distinct compositions. _________________ I hate people who try to write interesting things in their signature. |

| Yep, that's it. They claimed they were the same song with different music. |
