Everybody who went by wondered who he was.
This might not be the right forum, if a mod wants to move it that's fine with me. Edit: Thanks Groza!
To refresh anyones memory, because I don't know what the last time one of these was done:
A lateral thinking puzzle, or a situation puzzle, starts with a cryptic description of a situation that seems confusing or impossible. Everyone else tries to figure out what the story behind the puzzle is by asking yes/no questions. It's simmiliar to 20Q but there is no limit to the numer of questions asked. |

Do the people who walk by see the man (as opposed to hearing him or just seeing his name?)
Is he a human being/representation of a human being?
Do they have any reason to know who he is?
Is there someone who could walk by and know who he is? |

Is it some sort of memorial (e.g. "The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier")?
Or perhaps some sort of artwork (e.g. the Vitruvian Man)? _________________

Or perhaps some sort of artwork (e.g. the Vitruvian Man)? It could be considered art, but that is not its primary function |

You said the name was on a sign. The following questions build on that point...
Does the sign inform people of what they should do? (e.g. "Visitors please report to the lobby")
...should not do? (e.g. "No Smoking")
Is it a traffic sign?
Is the name on the sign a first name? A surname? Both?
Is the name, or part of the name, meant to be used as a verb for purposes of the sign? (e.g. "Mark Twain," though that one's not a sign so much) |
