I used to love this thread - http://www.greylabyrinth.com/discussion/viewtopic.php?p=455520 - but now most of the images are dead. The current MIT Puzzle Hunt puzzle reminded me of it.

Maybe we can start over. Here's a picture. Identify the location correctly, and then post an image of your own.

Don't you dare do this to me. "Google search" puzzles are a particular weakness of mine. If you don't believe me, go back and check Logain's Guess the Movie contest. I was the only person who managed to get all 100, and it's not because I've seen more movies (though I guess it's possible that that's true), it's just because I become obsessed.

Anyway, this one is the North Front Airport in Gibraltar. I got there by Googling "shortest runways" and then looking for one that was sandwiched between two bodies of water.

New one forthcoming.

You'll notice that the road cuts right across it. They red-light traffic while planes land, as show here - http://www.armstrongforensic.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/Screen-shot-2010-05-28-at-9.54.02-AM.png

I have no idea how hard this one is going to be. One large picture followed by some closer detail...

Found it...Vassar College.

I thought it looked like a college, but that didn't get me anywhere after quite a bit of search for colleges with large greens. So I figured it was maybe a college LK was connected to. Among his Favorites on Facebook, I found Vassar College, which turned out to be the one.

Heh, I was wondering if it was findable if someone didn't connect it specifically to me. Darn.

The first pic in this forum is the Gibraltar International Airport (aka North Front Airport).

The second series of pics had been identified as Vassar College in Poughkeepsi, New York.

The single picture of the third set is an aerial view of a portion of Liverpool. The A-pointer near the bottom is besides Ansfield stadium.

The A in the third picture is alarmingly close to where I used to live!

Liverpool/Anfield is correct. DejMar, it's your turn to post a picture, if you'd like.

I actually put "Scurra's old place" into GoogleMaps Razz

The previous picture is an aerial view of Boise, Idaho, USA.

(The arena in the top right corner has blue turf. Googling 'blue turf' leads to the Bronco stadium which is in Boise. The aerial view I found of the area of the city, though not an overhead view, unmistakeably matches that of the one posted.)

----------------------------------------------------------
I have not set up any account yet with any site such as DropBox for which I would be able to upload a photo, thus I shall have to bypass, again, a submittal of an aerial view picture. Someone else may take that opportunity for now. Perhaps I shall have one available and set up in the future.

I'll steal it, since DejMar seems to enjoy solving them, anyway. Revenge most foul!

Kingsley, Clay County, Florida. AKA. Silver Dollar Lake.

I found it through a Google Image search, which is probably cheating. That said, both Boise and Silver Dollar Lake didn't come up on an image search (I'm assuming it has to do with how both had their identifying features displayed well-off center?)

That town is

Geiranger, Norway.

It's easy enough to recognize fjords and go looking for a match, so I doubt the fact that novice recently said he's from Oslo really made it that much simpler.... but it didn't hurt either. Revenge most foul!

That is Zhenjiang, near Shanghai, China.

Link: http + ://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=30.241458,120.146527&spn=0.032589,0.066047&sll=30.24372,120.151892&sspn=0.032588,0.066047&t=h&radius=2.37&z=15

Google image search is great for these, but in this case I had to couple it with Google translate. Revenge most foul!

Oh, come on, Google Image Search is cheating.

Secondly, no. Well, yes, you've found it, but Zhejiang is a province and would not be deemed specific enough were this a game show. Razz

And the last picture is of Palm Springs. Subdivisions in a desert can only mean NV/AZ/CA... look for an airport just southwest of a NW/SE-running interstate... tada.
