I concur with DF's calculations, but I'm having trouble thinking about good moves. I will say my gut rejects lex's 133, but it's his move and there's my brain block. Will come back to this this afternoon.

What if I back up to 102 and if he reveals himself near a river station I can pop back south, or if he's in the NE I can help close that area up

mm, 102 isn't ideally linked to protect the bridges though. I'm still not sure, but still tempted to go to 116 though - it puts a bit of pressure on if he's in the southeast, prevents him escaping up to 86 this round, and leaves you the option of heading up to 86 if he turns up in the northeast, plus you're still ready to head back to cover the river crossings if he turns up even further south. I'm not convinced, but it seems like the most "arguable" idea that I've thought of.

If I go to 116 and he backs to the river station, I can't get to the next river station in time and then he's on our west side and making a breakaway. I'd really rather sit at 102 playing defense

I said it was my most "arguable" idea, but I'm not going to!
You agree I should go to 128 though?

What do you mean this isn't a shuttle bus? Oh alright...

Cross road, wait at stop, wait some more, huff and grumble, wait some more, grumble more, wait even more, aha!...
Curse the bus that drives straight past, grumble more, wait some more, wait some more, aha!...
Now which of these three buses shall I get on to get to 128 the fastest?
This one!

If Courk would go to 89, then I think 105 for you would be better, we want to stop him being in a position to break away when he has to reveal himself next turn. 107 isn't somewhere he can be right now, so covering 105 would hem him in more now, if you ask me.

Fair enough, I just figured with Courk being at Red 89 and I being at the stop adjacent to it, that things were going to become a bit clustered.

To 105, 3iff

TGC...your move to 105 is by BUS...I take it.

If you run out of tickets...ie you're on position 2 and you have no taxi tickets left then you just sit there for the remainder of the game. You obviously guard that place but Mr X would obviously stay well away from you.

You can post as much as you like, offering advice and analysis even if you're trapped at a position. You might even be able to take over from an awol detective if needed.

I knew I shouldn't trust the cable company. They won't be here until Friday morning. You can wait, or I give df permission to proxy for me.

I hate this. I'm usually very consistent in checking the site, and I feel so disconnected and inconveniencing. Dispirited

We can wait or DF,Lex,TGC can proxy move you and Courk. I'll leave it to the detectives to decide.

There's no rush though.

I will bus to 55, and I'm thinking Courk taxi to 87 unless somebody would really prefer her to be on the metro.

Courk has had to bow out...so the other detectives will be providing her moves.

I will take the Courk taxi to 87 move if there are no objections. I'll wait a few hours for people to get online. I'll go with this when a detective confirms it.

Jedo - I hope you're setting settled in ok...

WB Jedo

I am prepared to be swayed, but at the moment I would really prefer Courk to cover the tube at 89. Mr X is pretty restricted in the general area with her covering there. He has to reveal next move I believe, so we'll be well placed to adjust things after that, but I would like to keep him from having a fast exit right now.

Mr. X moved casually to the taxi rank. Remaining discreetly in the shadows as taxis came and went. His 6th sense caused him to turn away and head for a nearby bus stop. It was empty and he realised he'd just missed a bus. There would be another in a minute or 10 but he couldn't wait.

The tube station was nearby and he reluctantly made his way there. Down the escalator and onto a platform filled with policemen...and Detective Inspector Courk arriving on the escalator he'd just used.

He raised his hands in defeat.

The team of detectives dined out for some weeks on their successful capture of the notorius criminal.

Mr X is captured on turn 7. Congratulations to the detectives.

UM was hopelessly trapped in the upper right quadrant of the map and never got an opportunity to break out. He took a brave decision to head to the tube station last turn at the risk of being caught...and so it turned out.

A good call from Dented Ford.

The game moved a bit slower than I'd wished but I hope you enjoyed playing.

Apologies to 3iff for my recurring absences. This was a complex game. One that needed to be thought about to be really appreciated.

Kinda disappointed that it ended so quickly, seemed like we were in for a long haul. Guess UM was kinda right about Jedo reading his mind. Revenge most foul!

And thanks to Dented Ford! You can send Mr. X in now for questioning. Twisted Evil

Good call on overruling me, DF.

This game bends my mind a bit much, yet it is also exciting. I think Scurra was right about four detectives being too much.

What if Mr. X got to choose his spot and the detective starting points couldn't be within a certain range?

Yay we nabbed him! Thanks everyone.

As to the mechanic being geared in favour of the detectives - how about starting the game with Mr X at one of a selection of "heist" spots and the police all starting out at "New Scotland Yard" (which I think maybe nearest the location 154 ?Scurra?) and having to spread out from there?

DF, I think all the detectives starting from the same spot would mean they waste many of their moves just getting somewhere 'good'.

If I do another of these, I think I'd run with 4 detectives and hopefully run the game quicker...or even 2 players with 2 detectives each + a Mr X. That might keep the game tighter.

Still, that will be a while as I've other things coming up soon.
