Help! My wife purchased a new PC for her business last month. It came with Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 9. The problem she encountered today is that her point of sale software doesn't work on those. I thought maybe I could download IE 8, but there isn't a version for Win 8.
Is it possible to uninstall windows 8 and install windows 7? Will I have to purchase the software?
Please no editorial comments on either product. I just need advice. |

While I have no experience trying to downgrade from 8 to 7, with prior versions of windows a downgrade like that rarely worked properly. The best option was - and presumably still is - to format the hard drive and do a fresh install from scratch. _________________ * These senseless ramblings brought to you by Insanity™. your ONLY option is to format the drive and install windows 7. Kinda sad but it is a reality. Where did you buy that PC from that had windows 8 on it? the only release ( that i am aware of) has been a developer release, which isn't really ready for the consumer environment.
EDIT : i looked again, apparently they did have a consumer development release, but the full version isn't out yet. _________________ The Man The Myth The Legend

We are missing a piece of the puzzle here. what is the point of sale software brand? we could figure out if it just uses the browser, or if it is a full program. _________________ The Man The Myth The Legend

| I relied on a usually reliable office manager who swears she saw Windows 8 when she checked the version. When I went over there this morning, it turnsnout it is Windows 7. The main problem seems to be IE 9 vs. IE 8. |
