There are nine elements listed in the puzzle. That and the title made me think "magic square" but applying the atomic numbers won't work toward that goal; notably radium has a much higher atomic number than any of the others so such sums would be impossible. Currently I'm toying with the idea of using the atomic symbols to create words on the rows, columns, and diagonals but I'm not certain there are enough vowels. I suppose you really only need one per row and column, so it may be doable.

I decided to take a look at this one today, and here's what I have so far.
Name – Symbol – Atomic#
Argon – Ar – 18
Boron – B – 5
Cobalt – Co – 27
Hydrogen – H – 1
Nitrogen – N – 7
Oxygen – O – 8
Potassium – K – 19
Radium – Ra – 88
Sulfur – S – 16
That by itself tells me nothing, so I started loking for other clues.
I came up with another thought:
The title of Magicalchemist could be either Magic Alchemist or Magical Chemist. That could be a clue. Alchemy was the science of trying to transmute Lead into Gold. I feel this may be somehow relevent, but I haven't yet stumbled upon how.

Thanks to this being bumped I finally took a better look at it and this is what I came up with:

Code:

Co B  Ra
S  O  N
H  Ar K

This gives words in every row, column, and diagonal, which goes back to the original "magic square" thought.

That's got to be it.

On a semi-related note, I've been trying to come up with the longest possible string of elements that produce words from both their symbols and atomic numbers.

Example:
Ca = 20 =T
P = 15 = O
Giving you CAP and TO

I've found a 4-element chain that leads to a 5-letter word from the symbols and a common 4-letter word from the atomic numbers, but haven't been able to better that.

Can anyone do better?
