Anyone else play Parallel Kingdoms here?
It's a free RPG that's a GPS based mobile game for androids, iphones, ipads, etc. Typical RPG with leveling, monsters, equipment...but the map is actually the world map as you would see on google. Definitely worth trying.
If you have a character let me know. If not and you want to give it a try, use my referral code when asked for one that way I can get a small bonus
It's "kdcqf"
Here's a link to what the game's like...

and sadly, it's unnecessary; they have a web version of the game now. Better toss it. |

Can you play the same character with the mobile phone and web game? Use the phone on the move, computer at home?
[edit]No, no you can not. Sad. _________________ * These senseless ramblings brought to you by Insanity™. If you just can't figure the dang thing out, it must be Insanity™.

Hey DM, just found that out myself. The web version is a completely different world
I didn't even know it existed until I read the post above.
I tried to use the web version earlier today to reply to you but couldn't log in with my user, then found out why, lol. I usually use a touchpad rather than my phone and typing on them is a pain. The touchpad's "swipe" compared to my phone is terrible.
If you stick with the game, let me know if you need anything
The best advice to start is you conserve food only for leveling. It doesn't take much math to realize you run out of food quick.
Not sure if the noob instructions changed, but when I started it wasn't blatantly obvious you can easily get food by selling resources to other players at the closest main trade post...I almost quit right away when I was under the false impression you had to use real money to get more food. |

I think the game really wants me to keep playing, since I've been playing now for three days and won the supposedly rare 7,000 gold "jackpot" in the last two.
However, my problems are thus:
1) I really don't go many places
2) I can't connect to the game via the wi-fi at work.
3) I'm on a limited data plan (*grumble grumble greedy bastards at Verizon grumble grumble*)
But we'll see. _________________ * These senseless ramblings brought to you by Insanity™. If you just can't figure the dang thing out, it must be Insanity™.

DM,
1) That changes drastically eventually. If you join a kingdom, it can be anywhere in the world and you get 0 feather travel cost to it, just like whatever home city you join. Plus if you "found" a city, you get the keys to it and 0 feather travel. Also, wherever you travel to in real life, if you hit the "locate" button for travel it will automatically center you character on that spot. Wherever you go you always have the "dedicated" trade post of that area in your travel list. Once you travel to a city's main center, it's always in your travel book. I have hundreds of cities all over the world to go to for example.
2) That sucks...same with me, and while at work I get shoddy 3G/4G service so I can't really connect.
3) I have Verizon too but luckily I'm grandfathered in with unlimited data until i get my next phone...and luckily once again I just upgraded my phone this summer. |

So why does it cost feathers to go to your own flags? Am I missing the point of them? I mean, if it's in my current range, why can't I just walk over and "make this my current circle/home/whatever"? _________________ * These senseless ramblings brought to you by Insanity™. It costs feathers to travel to any flag...it's like your travel energy in a way...and walking doesn't allow you to refocus your circle.
The further the travel the more feathers. Traveling from US to Europe would be like 80+ feathers...traveling to the same city would be 2 feathers.
If you're wearing Roc Boots, the amount of feathers to travel gets cut in half. |

Yea, really not seeing the point of this. All I can tell is that my travel currency WILL run out, and faster than I can build it up. I can grow trees (with time), chop 'em down, collect berries, most things that are fightable run away before they can be killed... It seems more pointless than most MMOs. :\ _________________ * These senseless ramblings brought to you by Insanity™. If you just can't figure the dang thing out, it must be Insanity™.

I think in the beginning it's a slow start.
But except for wolves and monks (and maybe spiders if they trap you) most things won't run if you start attacking them with a melee weapon. With a ranged weapon, stags will run...and sometimes when there's a group, the ones you are not attacking scatter.
Once you level and get skill points, there's a skill called "taunt". When you taunt, every creature on the screen stays centered on you to attack you for like 30 seconds or something.
You shouldn't ever need to grow trees, there's always hundreds to cut without it....they regrow on their own in the same area every few hours.
Also, in general, creatures you kill on land are great for resources (like leather, stone) and you can get wood, berries, sap while doing it.
Killing creatures on the water is where the real money is, but you don't gain any useful resources while doing it. |
