Too bad the old Quickies threads have died off, or I would have used this there. The above puzzle will result in a one word answer.

It looks like each pair of dice (or die), shows 3 digits that clue to a single letter. Working backwards -- like the moonwalk dance -- seems to be important too. I'm not sure how the indices work.

I never would have seen this without the answer that HAMMOS gave, because I was focused on the single die, which I can only explain in hindsight. But looking only at the numbers facing us and reading downwards per number, you have:

66, 65, 6, 54, 63, 62, 62, 64

And assuming

K = 66
L = 65
M = 64
N = 63
O = 62
...
W = 54

That gives you KL?WNOOM, reversed is MOONW?LK.

If we assume that the lack of a die means a 7, then the third number is 76, which is what A would be in the progression.

Or, more simply:

What's on the back of the dice?

If you look at the number of dots on the backs of the stacks of dice, you'd find these numbers (opposite a 6 is a 1, opposite a 5 is a 2, etc):

1/1, 1/2, 1, 2/3, 1/4, 1/5, 1/5, 1/3

Read these as 11, 12, 1, 23, etc.
