I hope it lives up to your standards!

Puzzlania’s greatest percussion group, the Conun-Drums, is playing a sold-out show at the scenic Treble Cliff amphitheatre, and you want to win a pair of front-row tickets that are up for grabs. All you have to do is be the first to decipher the correct password, and you win! A local business is sponsoring the contest, and has a booth set up handing out a puzzle and accepting answers, which have all been incorrect thus far. The puzzle reads as follows:
THE CONCERT WILL BE AT 6 Pm AND 2 TICKETS WILL BE HaNDED TO THE FIRsT LUCKy PERSON TO GIVE uS THE CORRECT PASSWORD. GOOD LUCK!
WHITE: A1, AE, 71, C2, B3, BF, B2, 54
BLACK: A3, A8, 78, 79, CF, C4, C9, 69

Below that is an eight-by-eight grid with alphanumeric characters labeling the columns and rows. Across the top, from left to right, are 3 F 1 4 8 2 E 9. Down the left side, from top to bottom, are A D 7 4 C 6 B 5.

Ah. I had got as far as wondering what "maysu" was - not a word I'd come across before. I was just about to google for it when I saw this.

I'm wondering if hex comes into the next bit, since we've got 1-9 and A-F (rather than 1-8 and A-G for a normal 8x8 grid.)

Wasn't as illuminating as I thought:

The empty cells are 4F 41 44 48 42 4E, which are ASCII values (in hex) of the letters

O A D H B N

which doesn't seem to spell anything interesting.

Is there a band called "A Bad Horn", perhaps? That uses the ascii for the letters not on the masyu path

Or, if Sentran is a Beach Boys fan and made a small mistake in the puzzle, it could be RHONDA

Zag, you are on the rigth path, but you're missing something...

jbvntx, you are extremely close. I'll give you a hint if you'd like.

HINT: The scrambled letters have something to do with the prize.

Thank you for the words of welcome!
Several people are very close, but no right answers yet.
HINT: The lowercase letter is that way for a reason.
HINT: The word is usually spelled with an accent above one letter.
HINT: The word is the same in English, but is not an English word.

Well, earlier I was going to say HABANERO, but the letters weren't quite right. But it seemed to fit with Red Hot Chili Peppers, except you told us the name of the band was Conun-Drums.

Looks like Zag's missing a letter at 52. Answer should be:

BODHRAN which is a goat-skin drum from Ireland.

So why were there two A's, a big one and a little one?

Very nice puzzle! Welcome to the grey labyrinth!

To be honest, I was having trouble getting 7 gaps instead of 8, so I made the answer "a BODHRAN".

Thank you all for the welcome and encouragement. I'm sure I'll post more as the mood strikes me.

This puzzle was pretty good for a first effort -- like Zag said, it's refreshing to see a newbie post an original puzzle. Felicitous

It's easy to prove that you can't have precisely 7 unused cells in an 8x8 Masyu, though. Color the cells like a checkerboard, and you'll have 32 of each color. The loop must alternate between cells of each color, which means it uses an equal number of each -- therefore, an even number of cells must be in the loop. Since an 8x8 grid has an even number of cells in it, the number of unused cells must also be an even number -- which 7 is not. QED.

Maybe you could have used a 7x7 grid, or used the ASCII hex value for a space? Felicitous
