Ahhh...I did have an early idea about Platonic solids but it didn't seem right so discounted the idea...so close and yet so far away...

Well done Braegh.

I think it's 3-dimensional shapes.

paper - flat
slice of oak - round slice
house - square with a pointed roof (2-3-or 4 sides)
wedge - wedge
globe - a globe
die - cube
and the glass....not otherwise described, but if it has a tip, it must have some sort of angled sides - so I'd say that cutting it in half from the tip to the opposite side would probably create some kind of triangle.
The business about the strange reflection only got the viewer looking at the glass twice and thinking about how it fit with the rest of the objects.

But none of this is particularly either unique or funny....so I don't know...

Grace, you're on the right track with the 3-D surfaces, but wrong on the details.

Logain acknowledges that we've solved it (if you click-drag over the blank areas in the messages, you can read the hidden spoilers - so if you don't want to know the answer yet, don't do that!).

Ah that is, wrong on some of the details, but right on others.

Doll House : Wrong on the number of sides

Piece of Glass: I think you have it - how many sides is what counts.
