OK, this is my first homemade riddle so I haven't·the slightest idea if this one's too·simple or maybe too complex. Well, then we'll just have to·find out, right ?
code:
··· ·---· (phonetic)
from which century is the first of the two french movements?
How many years earlier do the roots at least go back to?
code:
165-7 -> 1 step up, 4 steps right
53-36 -> 1 step down, 1 step left
224-57 -> 2 steps up, 6 steps right
112-33 -> 1 step up, 5 steps left
282-14 -> 1 step up, 2 steps right
206-10 -> 1 step down, 1 step right
[edit]hmm, something went wrong with the topic title . It was suppost te be "which 'person' am I looking for?"[/edit]

"..." is a Morse code "s"
".---." doesn't appear to be anything, although ".-- -." is "wn" and ".--- ." is "je" |

ZutAlors, you're right. It is some kind of a morse code, but you can't find out any of the first three questions if you don't see the point(s)
[edit]Seeing is not enough!! There's something there you can't see .[/edit]

I think the "morse code" is Ra Se.
There are three links hidden in the OP. |

I was just looking at the morse code. The solution that Athene came up with, is correct but there is another possibility for the ··· and that's the one I ment. It's made out of two other characters.
------------------
There are three kinds of people, those who can count and those who cannot.

That's it ! Well done. It won't be hard to find the other two answers, the hardest part was finding the places to find the answers. Once you've got the first three answers, you have to combine them for the next clue. With this clue you can work out the last part.

There are three kinds of people, those who can count and those who cannot.

Be Se + 17th century + 80 years = BC 1780?
a quick search for 1780 BC returns, among other things, the Code of Hammurabi.
the highest number in the second part is 282, and there are, indeed, 282 laws.
phew.. those invisible links are a pain.

*kick, part two*
Come on, you guys!! From this point, it's not that hard to solve this riddle. When you look at Makemeok's invisible post, the numbers should make sense. When the numbers are understood, we'll go to the part with the steps.

Any similarities between what I say and what I mean are purely coincidental. |

Sure you can. Each number pair represents a letter. First try to find the six letters. After that you have to do something to those letters (the steps part) in order to get the answer.

The first numbers are the places where the second numbers represent a letter.

first, here's your laws:
165. If a man give to one of his sons whom he prefers a field, garden, and house, and a deed therefor: if later the father die, and the brothers divide the estate, then they shall first give him the present of his father, and he shall accept it; and the rest of the paternal property shall they divide.
53. If any one be too lazy to keep his dam in proper condition, and does not so keep it; if then the dam break and all the fields be flooded, then shall he in whose dam the break occurred be sold for money, and the money shall replace the corn which he has caused to be ruined.
224. If a veterinary surgeon perform a serious operation on an ass or an ox, and cure it, the owner shall pay the surgeon one-sixth of a shekel as a fee.
112. If any one be on a journey and entrust silver, gold, precious stones, or any movable property to another, and wish to recover it from him; if the latter do not bring all of the property to the appointed place, but appropriate it to his own use, then shall this man, who did not bring the property to hand it over, be convicted, and he shall pay fivefold for all that had been entrusted to him.
282. If a slave say to his master: "You are not my master," if they convict him his master shall cut off his ear.
206. If during a quarrel one man strike another and wound him, then he shall swear, "I did not injure him wittingly," and pay the physicians.
second... counting letters in each law yields GEXLHQ.
finally, putting your finger on the G key on your keyboard and moving up one key and right four keys, you wind up on the letter O. at least by my keyboard's layout you do.
GEXLHQ = OSIRIS, ancient Egyptian god of the underworld and judge of the dead.
so there you go. pretty good. |
