I already knew this one, and it's temper indeed! But wasn't the riddle suppost to be like this:

I'm sometimes short and sometimes hot
but when displayed I rarely impress!
What am I?

I've got another one:

Once I'm in a corner,
I never move, but travel the world,
I'm square and I'm flat,
What am I?

Answer: A postage stamp. Good one!

Here's an old chestnut some may not have heard, in literature it's one a dragon posed to Merlin...

It is cold and it is hot
It is white and it is dark
It is stone and it is wax
But its true nature is meat
and its color is red.

What is it?

Is the answer a heart? I've got some more but there may be 2 or 3 chestnuts here:

1)

Which of the following words does not fit in?

code:

Abstract
Demons
History
Opera
Police
Station

2)

What is greater than God,
More evil then the Devil,
The poor have it,
The rich need it,
And if you eat it you'll die?

3)

What is always coming but never arrives?

4)

Every creature in the world has seen it
But to their dying day they'll never see the same one again!

2 is nothing, 3 is tomarrow, and 4 might be the present? I heard a different one for 3. this is the one I heard...

I love the Dark Tower series, though I was disappointed with the end of the riddles... I thought Eddie was going to make up a riddle on the spot, with the answer being Blaine himself. With Blaine's dual personality, even I could have made up a riddle that could only have been him, and he probably wouldn't have seen it coming. That's it, I'm rewriting the series. Let's see... "The man in black stopped at a disco, and the gunslinger boogied behind him". Naah, maybe I'll leave it alone.

tasteless, and just... icky
did you know he's working on another book in the series, or so he said in some interview... hope it's good.

That's the correct answer. Anyone who wants to explain it?

That's exactly the reason why I asked for an explanation on this one . Without it, there's still no solution.

I thought maybe because 'police' is both a noun and a verb, but so is 'station'

It has nothing to do with nouns and verbs. Think smaller.

ABstract, DEmons, HIstory, OPera, STation - all start with two consecutive letters of the alphabet... police, of course, does not.

Uhhhhhh, that's consecutive letters in order, if it wasn't too blindingly obvious. Alphabetic order, to be even more "specific." And, yes, we are speaking English! Also, you grammar is horrible.
