Link to the Puzzle

Hints and clues are scattered about the pages of the GL, but most of them are within the forum area. Some are in posts. Clues in posts are contained only in the posts of the contributors, and will be significantly public posts within the month of March.

You are encouraged to hunt for and discuss these clues. The solutions to some puzzles can't be found without clues.

That's for me to know, and you to find out.

The letter E does not show up in the decoded paragraph

Though I'm not sure what that means...

Noticed Poll tournaments changed to Pole tournaments - the presence of an E hinted at in the previous clue. One thread in poll tournaments titled "Should this thread be closed" - with a post from Crepe'r on March 14, 2008 with a sig line of 5038

...and now I'm stuck.

Well there's another obvious missing letter in the initial "Chestnut" posting that is across all the topics. Does that point to the renamed "Off-Topic" section?

...but I'm stuck now as well.

Using other people's clues....

the comic for xkcd on the 14th is this

http://xkcd.com/396/

which is number 396 and features the number 7 and 363104.

also, the main site of XKCD is actually a different webcomic today for april fools

On-Topic may be part of the April Fool's Day festivities. Whoever planned to start the hunt today is evil.
The Deep South XI game in the Mafia forum is not a real game. The first five posts (after post 0) each boldface one of the players; taking the number of that player from the sign-up list gives 7-14-9-15-15 (GNIOO, perhaps?)

Feh, I saw caran come in MG and wondered if he would see and come in my signup thread, which would surely attract people, since he seems to be so popular (I think, never can truly tell) and other GLers would want to play with him, but once again, I raised my hopes too high. Razz

Anyways, 5 now, 10 or so to come. *crosses fingers*.

I just noticed in my pms the word mafia has been replaced with "legitimate business people" and more importantly night has been replaced with "time of extreme and total darkness". Also Amb seems to be referred to twinkle toes Amb don't know if this is important.

Ah. The "Mafia" forum is the one I don't even scan, let alone check out regularly!
So I can't offer much help in spotting suspicious changes in there...

Two threads on the front page of "On-topic" (the only forum with no "e" in the title) have no "e' in their title. They are "Almost" and "Who's going to win".

The Deep SOuth XI mafia game was completely independent of this April Fool joke!

Unbelievably that probably gave away a place to look...

No wonder Neo censored my name...

I love scavenger hunts, so I really liked this one. Also, I found it funny when you said we could work in groups of 42. All my friends say 42 is the answer for everything. I never thought it could be, but I guess I believe them now.

Not just everything -- it's the answer to life, and even the universe, too. "Not just everything"? Is that a valid phrase?
