Roleblocker Hitchhiker (Sugar Kane Kowalczyk from SOME LIKE IT HOT) is found dead. Missing her liver. The town lynches pro-town reporter Werebear2 (TANSTAAFL) and lose. Congrats to the Monsters.

Still not dead:
Green CrayonsKd(2)
Mackay

Dead as can be:
Beartalon (mason, town, killed by machine gun)
Leonidas (lawyer, town, killed by axe)
Referee (president, town, apparently killed by a lot of knifes)
Kd (nurse, town, crushed to death)
Quailman (cop, town, killed by axe)
JDTAY (pacifist, town, lynched)
Jadesmar (mason, town, killed by repeated stabbing)
Damelon (Godfather, Corleone mafia, apparently killed by a lot of knifes)
DMTSurel (lynchstopper, town, killed by machine gun)
Taflinel(doctor, town, killed by axe)
Sweetwater (detective, town, apparently killed by a lot of knifes)
Xer0x (townie,lynched)
Madmax (vigilante, town, crushed to death)
Quagmire/Nauplius/Quagmire (Corleone mafia, killed by telekinesis and an axe)
Raist (Monster mafia, apparently killed by a lot of knifes)
Werebear (Serial killer, lynched)
Sparticus Leonidas 2 (cop, town, killed by repeated stabbing)
Jesternl (Corleone mafia, lynched at record speed)
Hitchhiker (role blocker, town, liverless)
TanstaaflWerebear(2) (reported, town, lynched)
DarkbladeMadmax(2) (cop, town, overpowered)
Sniklac16 Porro (mason, town, overpowered)

Revealed roles:

Beartalon/Jadesmar:
B=Gustave Flaubert from MADAME BAUVARY, a mason. You win when the town wins.
J=Rupert of Hentzau from THE PRISONER OF ZENDA, a mason. You win when the town wins.

Leonidas:
Archie Leach from A FISH CALLED WANDA
As a lawyer, you can arrange to have someone lynched even if they do not have the required majority. If you want to do so, post some Russian words and the name of the intended victim during the day in one post. You win when the town wins.

Referee:
President Rufus T. Firefly from DUCK SOUP
You are the President of your country and as such, you have the power of execution. During one day of the game, you can order the mod to execute a player by posting vote: XXX (and I mean this). You win when the town wins.

Kd:
Nurse Kate Lemon from THE TALL GUY
You are a trained nurse, and you are ready to take over should a doctor get killed. If this happens, send me an email every night with the name of someone you want to protect. You cannot protect yourself. You win when the town wins.

Quailman:
Inspector Clouseau from THE PINK PANTHER
You are a cop. Every night you can find out (by sending me an email with a player’s name) whether someone is guilty or not guilty. You win when the town wins.

JDTAY:
Mohandas K. Gandhi from GANDHI
You are very much against all this violence, including the lynching. You will therefore not vote, unless prompted by another player, and you will never be able to cast a deciding vote. You win when the town wins.

DMTSurel:
Father Gerald from FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL
Every night if you want you can pray for someone to be saved from a lynching the next day. Email me if you want to do so. You win when the town wins.

Taflinel:
Captain Benjamin "Hawkeye" Pierce from MASH
You're a doctor. Send me an email every night with the name of someone you want to protect. You cannot protect yourself. You win when the town wins.

Sweetwater:
Private Detective Sam Spade from THE MALTESE FALCON
You are a detective. Every night you can find out (by sending me an email with a player’s name) what role name someone has. You still need to figure out whether that role is good or bad. You win when the town wins.

Xer0x:
Charles Foster Kane from CITIZEN KANE.
Sorry. Just a citizen (townie). You win when the town wins.

Madmax:
Carrie White from CARRIE.
You have the power of telekinesis. Whenever you want, you can use your powers to eliminate a player if you like. If you want to do so, send me an email with your choice. This will weaken you so much that you will not be able to post the next day. You cannot use your powers 2 nights in a row. You win when the town wins

Hitchhiker:
Sugar Kane Kowalczyk from SOME LIKE IT HOT
Every night if you want, you can visit a player and distract him/her sufficiently that he/she cannot carry out their own task that night. Email me if you want to do so. You win when the town wins.

Werebear:
Freddy Kruger from NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET
Your task is to get rid of all other players, by killing one every night. You win when you’re the last one standing. To this end, you will appear in the dream of a victim of your choice. You will learn all about their role, acquire their abilities for the night, and kill them. In order to use your victims powers, it is essential that you get your choice in well before the deadline.
Anyone targeting you will fail, as you’re not home. Anyone targeting your choice will kill you as well (although if a doc heals your victim, he heals you as well).

All roles have been taken from more or less famous movies. There may (or may not) be more than one role from a particular movie in the game.

The rules:

[01] Have fun and don't be a jerk. Please have consideration for the other players and the mod, and actually PLAY the game by posting and voting.
[02] No communication outside the thread unless your role allows you to do so and then only in the game's nights.
[03] Get your choices in before the deadlines. If not, a random choice will be made for the first night, and no choice for subsequent nights.
[04] No quoting my or others emails.
[05] If you're dead YOU'RE DEAD. No more posting relevant information after that.
[06] Lynching will be carried out once a regular majority is reached - and cannot be undone by unvoting. If I impose a day deadline, lynching will require at least half of the regular majority. In case of a tie, first come first served.
[07] Only votes in BOLD will be counted. Please clearly unvote if you want to change your vote.
[08] Do NOT edit or delete your posts! If you made a coding error, just post again.
[09] Do NOT post in invisible text.
[10] The mod is always right. Accept the decisions, and if you want to discuss them, take it to email, or do so after the game has finished.

I'm still missing some choices and the deadline is near.

Moreover, I just saw Sniklac16 post in another game that he has to withdraw as he has no email access.

Porro will replace Sniklac16 in this game.

I will postpone the deadline until Tuesday 2PM GL time.

Day 1:
Excitement in Hollywood. This is going to be the movie to end all movies. So many famous roles combined - unbelievable. Those lucky enough to be selected for this feast gather on the set. And a big round of applause for three colleagues who are already there and give a stunning imitation of corpses. Only after a while do you realise that their performance is a bit too life-like (huh huh rim-shot).

Not the best of starts for the town. Three down already.

Beartalon, famous for his performance as Gustave Flaubert from MADAME BAUVARY (mason, town), has been viciously chopped down with an ax.
Leonidas, also known as Archie Leach from A FISH CALLED WANDA (town), has been ruthlessly mowed down by machine gun fire.
Referee, in movie circles better known as President Rufus T. Firefly from DUCK SOUP
(town), is found in a pool of blood with multiple open wounds as if he has been cut by many knifes.

Full role description in the first post.

There are 21 of you left - let's say 11 to lynch.

In looking back over the morning update, Edward Scissorhands comes to mind for this one. I don't know about the ax (the Tin Woodsman as vig?), and any number of people could have had access to a machine gun - Al Capone, Bonnie Parker or Clyde Barrow?

People with axes: Carrie Nation. Don't know if she was in a movie, though.

The Mason's group will most certainly include people like Captain Nemo from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Professor Lindenbrook from Journey to the Center of the Earth. I don't know about Phillip Vandamm from North by Northwest. He seemed to evil to be part of a benign Mason's group. Perhaps General Count von Klugermann from The Blue Max will be part of it as well.

BTW, before anyone gets suspicious, my previous post was a reply to Hitchhiker's sarcasm about communicating n a secret code. We are not. That is a line from The Longest Day and was part of a radio broasdcast that signaled a cell of the French Resistance to move into action.

*ignoring possible bandwagon * Hmm... working out what could possibly be matched to each role is difficult... There are either 3 killing groups out there, or two groups with multiple kills, or hey, even just lucky mafia, but that's unlikely. So there's definitely mafia, and the possibility of:

a) A serial killer/vigilante. Wouldn't be surprised if there's someone with this role.

b) Cult. We know there are masons, but they're pro-town.

c) Something else... both Leo and ref had the power to have someone killed. There may be others with this ability.

Also, I'm assuming we have a doctor and a cop, at least. They shouldn't be too hard to find, as cop movies are pretty popular (Police Academy, anyone?) and quite a few films have a doctor in them somewhere.

I just thought of something...

Quote:
Gustave Flaubert from MADAME BAUVARY, a mason. You win when the town wins.

Nowhere in this role e-mail does it say there are other masons ("You are a mason with xxxxxxxx. You win when..."). He may be the only one. Oh, and if you haven't figured it out by now, M. Flaubert was portrayed by James Mason.

Of course, DMTsurel makes a good point. All this speculation may not be helpful to the town at all. It makes for good conversation, though.

Nice ideas, Kd. I agree, but I'm leaning towards the possibility of two lots of mafia. I think Raist may well be right about Freddy being the one with a lot of knives. And probably a serial killer, although I suppose we can't dismiss the "Cheesy Horror Movie Mafia" or something like that. It's hard to know at this stage what's been included. I'm at a bit of a disadvantage here because believe it or not, I rarely watch movies. I also haven't seen any that have been revealed so far.

I'd say that if there are more people out there with powers over life and death, they wouldn't have been used yet. I'd say we're looking at three lots of baddies here, rather than anyone well-intentioned. Which isn't very reassuring. But anyway.

I hadn't figured it out by now. That's pretty neat. I just assumed there would be masons, plural, rather than one on his/her own. I mean, if Bearty's the only pro-town mason, then how does that make him any different from a townie? And if there's no difference, then what's the significance of being a mason and not a townie? Doesn't make sense to me...

And I'm sorry for random voting you. Have some cream.

He probably was part of a mason group. All those other roles I mentioned as possible masons are James Mason ones. At my age, I have seen a lot of the classic movies on their first runs. I had to look up the names of the Blue Max and North by Northwest characters, but I remembered him being in them, and the other two are well known.

That being said, I don't think I will have any advantage over someone who has not seen the cited movies. This is just a theme to make the concelt more interesting.

Oh, and the point if he does turn out to be the only mason? It's just a stupid pun.
